In a Sportsnet article about Leivo, it was said that while he shoots right and can play either wing, he prefers playing the left wing. And reading his interviews, where he said he like to play an aggressive offensive style, crash the net, get into the dirty areas, I think he will look awesome on Bennett's wing, with Dube on the either side. Whether its RW like Enoch Root said or they keep Dube on the right with Leivo on the left, I really like that line.
Also said in the interview part of what convinced him to sign with Calgary is he normally trains with Gio and Monahan in the off-season. Awesome.

I enjoy how a Canuck who wasn't a huge priority to bring back for them, was injured for most of last year and who signed a one year deal at almost league minimum is being slotted into our 3rd line like its a not a complete hope and a prayer - super Flamesy

You clearly have a narrative made up already, but why not just look at Leivo's stats before posting... that's like the minimum you're required to do not to make an ass of yourself and yet here we are!

No "narrative clearly made up"...I don't know the player enough to have a real opinion of him yet. Assuming like the rest of you I'm hoping it works out, we found a bargain and he outperforms his deal. But yes its super Flamesy - that said i get it, I have hopes and dreams too.
Please direct me to which stats I should be looking at before posting here sir. I'll be sure to submit my posts for approval.

Cool story Hansel.
Anyways, my buddy is a huge Canucks fan - here is his two cents on the player.
"Solid player. 3rd or 4th line. Energy, skating, decent hands, plays well with similar players. Wish we had him for the playoffs. Some ahole pushed him from behind and broke his kneecap. If his skating isn't affected he's a great signing for you. Another Benning cap casualty. "

So a few things:
1) Here are some (all?) of the goals he scored last season, Skip ahead to 1:47:
As you can see, he wasn't really playing a 4th line role. On lines with guys like Horvat and Ferland, that's pretty firmly their second line.
2) I posted these numbers earlier in this thread. Again, this is pretty firmly top six production:

Sustainable? Probably not.
A sign of some skill in a middle six role? Probably.
So I don't think Flames fans are being particularily hopeful. The guy is clearly worth more than the veterans minimum, but his injury and the current free agency climate squeezed him out.
