Sly is on-board to reprise his role as a trainer, and the movie focuses on Apollo Creed's grandson. Early word is that Michael B. Jordan is on-board to play the title role.
Here's hoping Paulie breaks the Creed pinball machine with a bottle of whiskey.
As long as its not Will Smith's kid, I'm ok with it.
I was hoping that the last Rocky movie would be the end of it, it was actually a pretty under rated movie in my mind.
Him losing his last fight but leaving the arena with respect and love was a great moment.
I still love him berating his son in the movie, one of the great speeches.
Quote:
Rocky Balboa: You ain't gonna believe this, but you used to fit right here.
[taps on the inside of his hand] Rocky Balboa: I'd hold you up to say to your mother, "this kid's gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid's gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew." And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilige. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you're no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you're hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life. Don't forget to visit your mother.

I like it, give me more Sly, I can't get enough of these actors. I think it is a good idea for a movie and will be entertaining, as long as Rocky stays out of the ring.

Nothing was as absurdly wonderful as Rocky's speech in Moscow:
Rocky: [Addressing the Soviet crowd, translated into Russian line by line by announcer] Rocky: During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way youse feel about me, and in the way I feel about youse. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and youse can change, everybody can change! Rocky: [loud applause, even by the politburo]
I am torn about this. I've seen the original three Rocky films probably close to 100 times. IV and V were terrible, but Rocky Balboa was an amazing ending.
Then again, I dreaded the release of Rocky Balboa.
My little bit of fan fiction casting: Return of Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo. Drago has lived a lifetime of regret since killing Apollo, and seeks the forgiveness of the grandson.

Is IV really any worse than 3? I think I actually like IV better.

A couple of years ago, I made my wife watch all six movies in a row (yeah I did) and IV does not hold up well - it's only about 80 minutes long, has a music video right in the middle of the movie, and it's got that effin' robot babysitting the kids while the family is in the USSR. It's just so...80s.
Full disclosure: When we first got a VCR in 1982, the first movie I had on tape was Rocky III and I watched it endlessly. I can do the dialogue along with the movie (I am neither proud nor ashamed of this). So I might have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to the flaws of Rocky III.
