That is most likely Mark Spector. He and Dellow had a feud on twitter IIRC.

FWIW, only Lidstrom (07/08) and Keith (09/10) have won the Norris in the cap era while also winning a Cup.
Hope Gio gets it, he's been money for us his whole career.

Being legitimately talked about for Norris consideration?
Not invited to the All-Star game?
Sounds like a Flames player to me.

Winning the Norris while not playing the All Star game would be a double win.

No love for the all star game but lots-a-love for some team canada world cup roster projections.
*behind paywall
https://theathletic.com/755861/2019/...-hockey-roster
4 different writers projected rosters and Gio is on all of them (3 1st pairings and 1 second pairing)
Its really too bad there was no NHL participation in the olympics last season as Gio would have been a sure thing.

Remember when Gio signed his deal and we all cringed about the term? Yeah, looking like value now. Bananas.

Gio’s game is not sexy nor polished. It’s based around hard work, dedication and work ethic. Unfortunately doesn’t translate very well into the all star game which can be fairly pedestrian for the most part. It does however translates into success when the games matter.
Needless to say I’m ok with the snub it just adds fuel to his fire and Desirae to become better.

NHL.com panel chooses Reilly as mid-season Norris winner. Of course...
...but Gio being that close in voting numbers is a welcome surprise!
Quote:
Because of Rielly's offensive prowess and commitment to defense, he was chosen by a panel of 20 NHL.com writers to win the Norris Trophy at the midway point of the season. He received 77 points, including 11 first-place votes, edging Giordano, who had 73 points and six first-place votes.

With the Maple Leafs having a Norris contender, let’s be honest, there is a 0% chance Giordano wins this thing. Especially with his history of being criminally underrated by everyone and constantly snubbed throughout his entire career.
Thems the unfair breaks for Giordano, but he just continues to forge ahead all class never complaining and always working his balls off.
This guy is probably my favourite Flame of all time. Sadly I don’t own his jersey yet but that’s because the current set is hideous and I’m waiting (forever....) until they design something worth paying $300 for. But his will be one I purchase.

I figured the term was the price to pay for the relatively cheap cap hit. And that it might be too much salary at the end but overall good value over the lifespan.

I don't think think Reilly is the competition. I don't think Toronto is a deciding factor in voting. Gio is a bigger name, but also Burns.

We certainly didn't all cringe but as early as this past summer some posters wanted to move Gio to get out of his contract
Not that anyone will admit it now

While it's hard to fight the almighty Toronto market, Giordano is twice the player Reilly is, and has been for 3 x as long.
Justice and common sense says Gio or Burns.
EDIT: My sig says it all!

I think Letang and Carlson are bigger threats to take the trophy than Reilly. He just doesn’t play enough minutes in the end.

Out of all the Norris contenders no one plays defense like Gio, none are even in the same league currently.
