I'm considering the possibility of buying an iPad while in the states next month, just for the cost savings. Is there anything I should know? Warranty? iTunes store compatability? etc?

(Have I asked a similar question before)

Anyone do any wireframing on an iPad? I love omnigraffle on the mac but I've heard mixed reviews for the iPad version. Heard good things about iMockup.

I got Boxee and it works great. Better than AirVideo IMO, and it works with the Apple TV.

What puts it above AirVideo in your eyes? Is it the added social features? I like the idea of scraping the videos mentioned in your twitter feed... that's pretty cool. I'll give it a whirl for that reason alone.

If I read the app description properly it will scan your twitter/facebook feed for youtube or vimeo movies posted and put them in a playlist of sorts. Not a bad idea at all.

I got mine in the states, no issues with iTunes.

Not sure about warranty, don't think any problems, but haven't had to test it.

Is there really much of a price difference? I didn't buy it down there for price, the difference seemed negligible.

I believe Apple products have worldwide warranties.

What kind of cost savings are there. I just checked best buy Canada and US sites and the difference is $20. Even with the exchange rate you total savings is like $50.

Back when I asked the question, the dollar was at about $1.05 US, so you save the $20 price difference, plus the exchange rate (roughly $30, depending on the model), plus the GST or any sales tax since I'd be purchasing in Montana (another $30)

For example a 32GB wifi - $599 USD at a $1.05 exchange rate, that would have been $570 CAD.

In Canada, the same model would be $619 CAD + GST = $650 plus whatever electronics recycling fees they charge. I'd save $80.

(This is all assuming we'd be under the $400 per person duty exclusion, which we would be)

Yeah but you won't get $1.05US, closer to $1.02 probably with the bank/credit card spread.

So, aside from tethering or getting a whole new plan, is there any way to get 3G on an iPad via Fido?

Picked up an iCade cabinet today. Pretty cool, and a lot better than I expected. At first the fact only the Atari greatest hits app was supported kinda made me pass on it. But it looks like more developers are added support to their games. As much as I would love to buy one of gobsgrahams mame machines, this will have to do for now because of space restrictions.

My boss took it away from me today...lol. We were playing Battlezone at work... which would have been ok, if we weren't dinking around with it for 3 hours...lol

On sale for 79 buck at Betsbuy, and the joystick/button feel is pretty authentic.

Is the overall construction good or flimsy? Does it feel like the graphics would chip or peel off? Such a neat unit, but it would be a shame if its chintzy.

It is excellent. The unit is built out of MDF and pretty heavy, and the decals are a melamine sorta plastic application. The buttons and joystick feel very high quality. I was hesitant when I saw one assembled at the store, but you could tell some slacker kid put it together like a loser. If you tighten all the screws right, and make sure all the holes line up, the fit and finish is top notch.

Just check the online reviews, they are pretty awesome.
