Melrose Cafe on 17th to close after 23 years

This was always our warm up bar back in the day before we hit the Whiskey or Mynt. Had some great times there. I was just there last week to watch the Packers game. Sad to see it go.

Seems like a strange fit for such a large location in the heart of 17th ave. I'm not sure it will have the demand to afford the rent....

That being said I'll definitely check it out.

I think it's just the restaurant and patio side..

I was hoping the Mill St Brew Pub rumours were going to be true. I lived down the street from the Toronto one. Mmmm Drunken Nachos...

As Calumniate noted it is only the restaurant/patio side. The bar side is remaining a bar (just different from Melrose). The restaurant side of Melrose was the thing that needed a change the most. No one was ever going to Melrose for the food quality.
