Davies transfer done... shattered the old MLS record... 13 mil plus add ons potentially rising to 19 mil. Some outlets saying the caps got that 15% sell on clause.

Pretty crazy, the biggest transfer in MLS and Canadian history for a 17 year old. Really wish the kid the best, for those of you who aren't familiar with his story or character, here's a great video, really top notch person already at such a young age. He's one of those rare people like Jarome who combine spectacular athletic ability with humility. Knock em dead in Germany Alphonso!

Wow, Kristian Jack is saying base fee is 13 million euros not dollars... that's 15 million US or 20 million dollars canadian. Bayern is really investing in him! Glad to see they'll have such a big stake in making sure he does well.

Not sure why he's staying in the Mls for the rest of the season. Get him to Munich and training the German way asap.
A target on his back in MLS and any Bayern training in thebshadows on the reserve team or wherever, is going to be 10x or more better than anything he could accomplish in Vancouver as the face of the franchise.

If there is one thing I constantly hear about developing youngsters is that they have to be playing. I'm sure Bayern knows what they are doing.

Playing on a garbage Whitecaps team is not the only place to do that.

Who gets the transfer fee? I assume MLS and the whitecaps share it.

100% whitecaps, as he was considered a home grown talent.

That should help the Caps be more competitive as they aren't exactly flush with cash.

Is Davies locked up for Canada or are we going to have another Owen Hargreaves scenario?

He's cap tied to Canada. The same day he got Canadian citizenship he committed to Canada, and he was officially cap tied in the Gold Cup.

Hopefully Tabla realizes that playing for Canada is way better than playing for the Ivory Coast in the future. With the World Cup expanding and Canada co-hosting in 2026 Canada offers far more potential for him than playing for an Ivory Coast team that has to go through brutal qualifying with zero garuntee he will ever play in a World Cup. Also hving a budding star in Davies that he would play with for his entire career should help. It would be a terrible decision for him to play for the Ivory Coast.

I cant find the answer. New nations league starts in September. Does that competition cap-tie a player?

If CONCACAF is using the league as the qualification method for the Gold Cup and/or World Cup, I assume these matches would be considered when assessing to whom a player is cap-tied.

Some soccer blogger from vancouver posted a pic of tabla and davies and said he heard some good news. Then posted that he had a source saying tabla is committing to canada and wanted to play in toulon but his agent pulled him. Then deleted post #2.
