Great performance tonight. Hope he keeps it up. We could use solid goaltending like this all season.

Weren't a lot of people complaining about this move? I know it's early but he's been our best player so far.

There's still a long way to go but I love the way he battles. His game face / in the zone stare is scary.

As the team tightens up team-defense he could be scary good for us.

I'd never paid much attention to his puckhandling before. It's fun to watch how active Smith is, and it's such an advantage to have a goalie with that particular skill.

I am a big fan of Smith so far. Like how he fights and sees through traffic, and his compete. If this is what we see all year, this is a game changing addition.

Nearly had a heart attack when he deked the puck in front of the net to evade an opposing player.

He was being a bit coy, but called it a “cramp”.

Smith described it on the post-game show as a cramp. Doubt it takes him out of action or results in a Stockton call-up, but Lack may take the next start.

Just unbelievable to see him as our net minder. Great stick handling, awesome in net. Doesn't quit.

Here to eat a little early season crow. He has been way better than I expected. Love his compete, as others have noted. It's early still, but he looks like the real deal.

Smith did say it was just a muscle cramp, but then did say "nothing a doctor can't fix". Really hoping he doesn't miss a game over this.

Thus far, Smith has been nothing short of a real 'franchise-level' goalie. I haven't seen a stinker from him yet, and there have been a tonne of shots directed his way in these first three games.

He is 35, so unfortunately he isn't going to be able to play 70 games, but boy is this season suddenly looking bright. Hopefully Lack's game has been turned around so he can pick up whatever slack there is left, and Gillies looks like he is ready for some back-up duty if the need arises.

I haven't felt this confident in net since.... probably since Kiprusoff had Turek as a back-up. That's great depth, but depth is meaningless without that premier starting goalie. Finally!

You can tell the team is feeding off his energy.

We all said if he can give us league average goaltending that the team will do well. So far he is giving us elite-level goaltending. So that has been answered with a bullet.

The only remaining question is consistency. If he can keep this up, I think we are fighting for the division, no question.
