Well...thanks for being here to set the record straight on B-list rom coms professor.
That’s what the bag over my head was for in the post.
I think that ones funny because JT has an Album called no strings attached, Kunis and Portman were just in black swan, Kutcher and Kunis were in that seventies show together so the whole thing is just one big mash of bad rom-com with nothing to distinguish them.
And the after this Movie Kunis and Kutcher end up replicating the plot in real life staring as FWB and ending up married.
They have a free preview on Shaw of the 80's 90's and 2000's movie channels. I woke up this morning and watched Dragnet with Tom Hanks (Before he became a serious movie guy) and Akroyd.
I don't know why this movie just slays me, but it does. And its a movie with a 2 hour set up to the final line.
Next up is the Secret of my Success, which I really liked in its day.

Both are very funny movies, and I especially loved Dragnet as a kid. I should revisit that one. Haven't seen it in probably 20 years or so.
A super bleak dark Christmas comedy... but I really liked it. The kid from Jojo Rabbit is incredible again.
Looking at comments online I think it's very polarizing though. I think it'd be too depressing for my wife for example.
Also unfortunate timing given the pandemic as this was filmed prior to the first shutdown from what I've read, and it kinda has a strong anti-science / anti-government message to it that sends the wrong message within the framework of Covid.
The Power of the Dog on Netflix was pretty good. Some great performances from the main cast all around and breathtaking landscape cinematography. Never really knew which direction it was going to head in... though I don't think the ending was as ambiguous as it tries to play off.

Okay...but do any dogs die? I need to know before I recommend it to my wife.
If I recommend a movie and the dog dies in it I'm never going to hear the end of it.
I'm still working off my penance for 'A Dog's Purpose.'
Dennis Quaid really done me dirty on that one.

The talk about remakes made me go check out two of the best remakes ever in The Thing and Suspiria. I enjoy both originals alot but I think both remakes are better films.

If you're talking about the the 1982 The Thing being way better than the one from the 50's, then I totally agree.
If you say the 2011 prequel "The Thing" is a better film than the 1982 "The Thing", then boooooo to you, sir. that's a bad take.

The 1982 remake of The Thing is an all-time classic. I think I've watched it 20+ times. The cast is actually very solid for a horror movie in those days.
