Hurricanes House Cleaning Day 1
Canes make two trades
Trade 1
To Rangers
Tucker Robertson
Stuart Rolofs
Hurricanes trade two undrafted ECHL prospects from this years draft to the Rangers. WE were cutting them due to roster size requirements. Devo22 had a couple of open ECHL spots, thus saving them being on a ECHL contract
Trade 2
To Sharks
Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Nikita Okhotyuk
Carter Rowney
To Hurricanes
2023 2nd (SJ)
Just trying to make some hard moves, Kubel just wasn't making the CPHL team as he kept losing his spot before he had the opportunity to earn it. Rowney I couldn't waive to the farm. Okhotyuk became a victim of the Canes drafting so many defencemen, just not enough spots. By acquiring a 2nd it puts an asset in the safe for later on in the season that I don't have to worry about fitting into the organization right now
End result, 5 players out 0 players in

To Minny
Dylan Cozens
To Montreal
Bowen Byram
Simple deal. We have a lack of high end D and an abundance of high end F. I think Cozens will be #1 C in Buffalo this season and Byram may take some time to develop. But at the end of the day I don’t see a loser in this deal.

Hurricanes House Cleaning Day 2
To Devils
Casey Cizikas
Colton Sissons
To Hurricanes
Alex Galchenyuk
Roby Jarventie
2022 5th (NJ)
2022 5th (PHI)
With the signing of Jordan Staal I really wanted to run Staal and Lowery as my 3rd and 4th line centers. Cizikas and Sissions had simply done all they could for Carolina and it was time for them to move on. I love them as players but I relied way too much on them and to prevent another year leaning on them I took the option away. The Canes need to score goals
Pretty sure with this move the Hurricanes can now be roster compliant or very close

Help, save, whatever.

A lot of these trades are blockbusters IMO. If they are considered minor what is a huge trade in the CPHL?!?!

The Wild have traded Matthew Corronato and Jeremie Poirier to the Flames for the 2023 1st NYI.
Interesting deal. I like both prospects a lot. However I think there are two potential generational talents at the top of the 2023 draft - and those picks are going to be in high demand.

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that it has secured the naming rights for the former Pepsi Center for 1 million, in a deal reached with Austin Sports & Entertainment (ASE). ... The newly named 3:16 Arena is home to the CPHL's Colorado Avalanche

While I like the 2023 draft as well, the chance to add a Flames 1st rd pick and an additional prospect and gain a couple years of development was a bonus for us. I have a lot of 1sts in 2022 but almost 0 current prospects in the system.
Flames have had a relatively strong drafting history lately so hopefully it continues with Coronato and Poirier.
