Default The Simpsons

Man I've been meaning to start this thread for a looooooong time.

I caught a few really good episodes in the last couple of weeks. On sat and sun they seem to show 3 in a row and it is usually a mix of new and old episodes.

I saw the one where Skinner gets fired and Flanders takes over and Lisa's Rival.

Man they were both hilarious. It got me to thinking about my favorite episode of all time. My usual answer would be You Only Move Twice. Got me to thinking about the top 10 episodes. Googled it and found a decent list voted on by fans.

Thought this thread could be used to discuss not just the list but the Simpsons in general. New stuff, the classic episodes whatever.

The list:

Number 10: A Streetcar Named Marge (Season 4, Episode 2)

Number 9: Homer Badman (Season 6, Episode 9)

Number 8: Homer the Heretic (Season 4 Episode 3)

Number 7: Lisa's Substitute (Season 2, Episode 19)

Number 6: Deep Space Homer (Season 5 Episode 15)

Number 5: El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (Season 8 Episode 9)

Number 4: Marge vs. The Monorail (Season 4 Episode 12)

3: Last Exit To Springfield (Season 4 Episode 17)

Number 2: Cape Feare (Season 5 Episode 2)

Number 1: You Only Move Twice (Season 8 Episode 2)

The actual link contains a short write up on each episode.

http://m.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio...o&type=article

I think it's a pretty good list. Probably wouldn't have included the Johnny Cash episode and Deep Space Homer would have been a bit lower.

But the part of the list that reaffirmed what most already know was this:

Interestingly, all of your top 10 come from the first decade of The Simpsons - in fact of the 100 or so episodes voted for, only a handful were from the 21st century.

Pretty decent list.

Most of my personal favorites are from season 7:

Radioactive Man (ep. 2) ("My eyes! The goggles do nothing!")
Two Bad Neighbors (ep. 13)
Homer the Smithers (ep. 17) ("Is it about my cube?")
The Day the Violence Died (ep. 18)
Bart on the Road (ep. 20) ("That's it, back to Winnipeg!")
Raging Abe Simpson and his Grumbling Grandson in "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish" (ep. 22)

and my all time favorite:
Summer of 4 Ft. 2 (ep. 25) ("Sweet, merciful crap! My car!")

Many notable episodes. I also believe Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment is one of the best as well (season 8, episode 18) ("You're out there somewhere, Beer Baron, and I'll find you." "...no, you won't...")

Still the greatest show of all time, despite the terrible episodes we've seen since 2004.

Marge vs the Monorail and Cape Feare are the best two, IMO

Here is the top 11 episodes according to the Nostalgia Critic, for the most part it's a great list:

http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vid...psons-episodes

I will make my own list when I get the time, but the video is worth a look.

Lots of classics from the golden years but my personal favourite has always been when Lisa becomes a vegetarian.

Seen it dozen of times and still laugh when I watch it.

The only monster here is the gambling monster that has enslaved your mother! I call him Gamblor, and it's time to snatch your mother from his neon claws!

Brilliance.

Bart's Comet
Homer's Phobia
Brother from Another Series
Homer's Enemy
Homerpalooza
Summer of 4 ft 2

The one from Season 11 where Homer goes to an island in the South Pacific ranks there as well. "Save me Jebus!"

Last Exit to Springfield will always be my favorite, I love everything about that episode.

-Don Homer
-Homer being interviewed on Smartline and just screaming as his first answer
"Lisa needs braces. Dental Plan. Lisa needs braces. Dental plan."

Homers little spinning on the floor celebration while going "whoop whoop whoop" gets me every freaking time.

When I was watching the Simpsons Movie I was really hoping Scorpio would randomly show up to help Homer take back Springfield.

Favorites would be:

1. You Only Move Twice
2. Marge vs. the Monorail

And in no particular order

Homer at the Bat (Burns: Mattingly! I thought I told you to shave those sideburns!)
Kamp Krusty
Homer's Enemy
Deep Space Homer
The Boy Who Knew Too Much (Chowda! Say it right Frenchie!)
Flaming Moe's
Homer the Great
Homer the Vigilante
The City of New York vs Homer Simpson

Much Apu About Nothing is one of my favorites simply for this little gem of dialogue:

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm.
Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer:
Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer:
Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work.
Homer:
Uh-huh.
Lisa:
It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you? [Homer thinks of this, then pulls out some money]
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock. [Lisa refuses at first, then takes the exchange]

Lots of gems in this thread.

Two other episodes that always popup in my mind are;
King of the Hill - Homer climbs the Murderhorn.
Season 9 ep 23

Homie the Clown - Homer attends Krusty's clown college.
Season 6 ep 15

Homer the Heretic and You Only Move Twice have to be my favorites.

It's sad. I used to be able quote The Simpsons for hours on end. I still have a pretty decent set that I try to throw into everyday conversation but not nearly as many as I used to.

As much as it was nonsensical, I always liked "Homer and Apu"
