Yeah, it will be interesting to follow but I highly doubt it's going to work.
They still need to add quite a bit IMO.
Guess we'll see what they do next.

The Rangers have lost their mind. 10 year contracts rarely work out for the club.
Yeah they need to fill seats in the new stadium (if you ever went to a game at the old one you know why they built a new one) but committing to building through young players is truly the only way to win in baseball.

Lost in the shuffle was Aaron Loup singing with the Angels for 2 years and 17 million bucks. Good for Aaron!

I never made it to a game at the old stadium, but as a Canadian that watches the games on TV from his air conditioned living room, I much preferred the old one to the ungody new one with the stupid sunken boxes behind the plate and the aesthetic of a Home Depot.
Edit: Noticing the irony of my signature being a hockey rink with the aesthetic of a Home Hardware

I have to say I like the idea of what they went with. It’s different.

A lockout of Major League Baseball players appeared imminent after talks between the league and union ended after just seven minutes of negotiations Wednesday afternoon, less than 12 hours before the expiration of the game's collective-bargaining agreement.
In what's likely to be the last talks between the parties before the league's expected lockout of players Thursday, leaders for both sides met at the Four Seasons Dallas at Las Colinas. When the meeting adjourned minutes later, officials from the league left the hotel and players were told talks were done for the day.
It was an ignominious end to three days of bargaining that produced no progress after months of talks had done the same. While there was hope that the face-to-face meetings would generate some movement, no proposals gained traction.

- Marcus Stroman rushed to the airport and caught a flight from Los Angeles to Chicago as soon as he got the word from his agent.
The right-hander arrived just in time with a lockout looming, agreeing to a three-year contract that sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan is for $71 million. And the Cubs landed one of the top remaining starting pitchers on the free-agent market on Wednesday.

I can't honestly say Stroman is worth that salary, but the term isn't bad in a lot of regards.

What are people's thoughts? Are we going to have a full season here? Shortened? Lost year?
My prediction is nothing really happens until the normal opening of spring training. Then the real negotiations start and are done around time the normal season would have started. Short "spring training" is done and we get around 120 games.

Yeah from what I gather it's an awesome in person experience, but man oh man it sucks on TV.
I am anxious to go to a game there though. It's on the bucket list but am sad I never made it to The Ballpark

Honestly why are we having a potential lockout is more greed, greed. The players already make really good money look at the contracts being given out.

It's a lockout not a strike. The players had nothing to do with it.
You should've said; "Why are we having a lockout, it's more greed, greed and greed. The Owners already make an obscene amount of money, just look at the contracts THEY gave out."

The funny thing is I don't even think the players have a gripe about the overall money it's more about the wonky service time rules and minor leaguers living below the poverty line.

Yep. The top players will always get paid, but service time manipulation, the arbitration process, and yes the minor leaguers need to be looked after. It’s often the mid to low tier players that need the most protection in professional sports.
