Flames What Should the Flames do at the Trade Deadline?

The trade deadline is now 10 days away, the Flames will play 5 games over that time span. Right now,the Flames management is negotiating what moves they should make, if any.
I am curious what the Calgary Puck hive-mind thinks:

Should the Flames Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Thank you to the mods for adding a poll.

Buy low. Depth winger.

I'd love to add Hoffman but the price will be outrageous. I think an upgrade on the 3rd line would do wonders for the team.

Hold. Don't think they can afford the prices for a Hoffman type player. If they go on losing skid they should sell

Heart says get Hoffman

Brain says get depth 3rd line winger not worth too many assets

I'd love Hoffman but the cost is probably going to be crazy.

Grabner would be great too, but I bet the price is going to be surprisingly high.

Could deal one of the D prospect for a good RW under control.

This team needs a scoring winger in the worst way, but you can’t let yourself get bent over either.

I’d like to see a low cost depth defenseman added too.

With how slim the margins are between teams in this league, I think if the team can trade from a position of excess (defence) and address a position of need (scoring winger), you do it. I believe, especially with the addition of another scoring winger, that this team is absolutely one of the teams that could go the distance if things go right - and that's no different than any other team in the league. Things have to go right for you come playoff time, and all you can do is position yourselves as best as you can and then hope things click at the right time. We're there.

You don't subtract from the NHL roster right now, but you look at where things are going in the next few years.

Kylington, Andersson, Valimaki, and Fox all look poised to be solid, contributing top 4 NHL defencemen. I don't think there's room for all 4 of them in the foreseeable future.

Can we move one or two of them in a deal that addresses the team's biggest need for this year and beyond? If so, I think it's a wise move - specifically if it is for someone with speed and sniping ability (Hoffman?).

Absolutely do not spend on a rental, because if that's all you're looking for then Versteeg brings what a rental will bring. Make a move for something that will significantly help not only this year, but for years going forward.

I'm probably in the minority here but I strongly believe that this team will be seeing an easy first round exit IF we make the playoffs unless we go after a top 6 RW. If we are truly in win-now mode we'll be treading water with that huge gap in our line-up. Hoffman/Patches/etc would fix our PP problem and give us 3 very good lines. Trade one of our great young d-men in a package. Fox isn't signing after college anyways if there is a log jam like we have.

These are huge price-tag left shooting left wingers.

One thing that I think we will see is the Flames acquiring an improvement on Matt Bartkowski

This makes sense. If they don't see Wotherspoon as being the guy capable of stepping up during a playoff run, then yeah - I wonder if they look at a veteran. Johnny Oduya?
