Yep I totally remember that huge sundae. Before Sweet Tooth it was called Big Scoop. We would go after little league games.

Before the Coral 4 drive-in theatre the old Coral drive-in was right at the end of my street in Southwood. We used to walk over, sit on the grass and try to catch as much of a movie as we could before our parents came out looking for us.

I had one of my worst childhood memories there.

Got really sick and blew massive diarrhea out as I was going down the tube ride when I was about 8 or 9 I think. I was bawling my eyes out as I got to the bottom and as I walked to the bathrooms I was crying so hard that I am pretty sure I was still leaking.

Loved that 'floating pipe' though

That probably goes down as one of the worst experiences for everybody around you as well. Seriously, that's disgusting.

That floating pipe did seem like magic though lol.

-The half pipe beside the Snowboard shop on 10th Street
-Electric Avenue where most of the Flames would come drink with us common folk after games. We all knew the team drunks in those days
-Cheap Tuesday movies at London Towne Square when the theatre was the best in town
-Chi Chi's restaurant and the chips and hot sauce (Sunridge or Macleod)
-Suicide hill (just west of Edmonton trail) before they closed it off (great to load up a utility van and launch with a group of 10-15)
-The Corral on long weekends for the dust til dawn
-Concerts at Calliway park : Gowan etc...
Re: Buckshot : He was part of the kids day grand stand show on Wednesday and he still has it! I always looked forward to the birthday announcements on the show for some reason......often you would know one of the names...small town....

Yeah the original Republik was great and so was the weird little club upstairs. I also liked the Westward Club a lot around 1995ish, which I believe was the second iteration of the club. Nirvana played the first Westward Club.

Dale Harney (performed at office Xmas parties)

http://www.tvarchive.ca/database/192...,_the/details/

The Dale Harney Show featured Dale Harney (who also starred in Dale Harney's Magic Palace and Lynsky and Co.) with a magazine of magic tricks, social games, riddles and a segment, "It's a Fact," presenting unusual information from sources such as Ripley's Believe It Or Not or the Guinness Book of Records. The segment was without visuals--simply a graphic card with voice-over. The riddles were presented by Harney and the answer given after the commercial or public service message. A studio audience of children participated in the magic tricks and in the games for which prizes were given. The program was produced in Calgary.

Original Broadcaster(s): CFAC

Yeah . . . the Cannons.

I lived in Wildwood at the time and would ride my bike to Edworthy, then up the hill and eventually get to the stadium about the third inning and walk right in without having to pay (for some reason), lean the bike up against the fence on the third base line and stand and watch a bunch of the game before getting home before sunset. Great way to spend summer evenings all around.

Saw Alex Rodriguez hit a monster home run against the Cannons, just before he got to the majors. Another year, I went to a Mariners game in Seattle and eight of the ten guys in the Mariners lineup had played in Calgary in the previous two years.

These days, I check out the Dawgs in Okotoks once in a while as I life southwest of the city.

I still haven't adjusted to the new driving times and am consequently late for everything I do.
