Couldn't stop myself.
T mobile currently paying $300 of the cost in bill credits over 24 months for one plus 6t. So was sales tax up front, and now $11.50 a month for 24 months. Obviously if I leave early am on hook for full retail price of phone, but aren't tied to TMobile and no penalties if I leave early.

This phone is sick

What's the consensus best pure android phone available? Loved my Pixel 1 and went to a Galaxy S8 after that and Samsungs bloatware is getting on my nerves. Want to return to the pure Android experience. Pixel 3? Does the Essential phone still hold up now that it's been out over a year? Is there an Essential 2 in the works? OnePlus6 the way to go? Anything I haven't considered?

Essential got Android 9 almost immediately.
Do not expect Essential 2.
Obviously, Pixel 3 is a fabulous phone.
My oneplus 6t is spectacular. Oxygen is super light.

I just might have bought the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 or 2s had I not bit on the 6t. Big bang for buck on pretty light, almost pure Android skin.

Good luck!

My Oneplus 6 is fantastic. I kind of regret not waiting for the 6T but I desperately needed a new phone and I do like that it has the headphone jack. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oneplus as a phone. It's pretty darn close to stock Android so you don't have to worry about tons of bloatware.

Check out this phone....flagship features with mid range price. Though I have to confirm if it works with LTE 4. A friend has one and loves it, uses it in Canada, but I haven't confirmed which carrier he is with. I am looking at the Meizu 16 phone as well, as I heard that model of phone works with most carriers here.

https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_pocophone_f1-9293.php

If ordering from amazon, works out to about 500 or so, for the F1.

Pocophone has no LTE support in North America, afaik. Definitely not in US anyway

The Mi Mix 3 looks delicious. My only issue with any Xiaomi phone is no NA warranty.

Essentially the only difference with the 6t is no headphone jack (bad)and the on screen fingerprint reader (is sick af) but not as perfect as it should be nor will ever be on this model, I expect. And the curvy notch instead of oblong one, I guess.

I think I'm going to go Pixel 3 once I get somewhere to see one in person.

I really like my Essential but really only for the price. It is a fantastic, probably the best budget phone out there. I paid $300ish and for that price it is great but not sure how it holds up to Pixels and Samsungs. Major downside is a poor digitizer that can lead to some touch issues especially if you play games.

If money is of no concern I would go 6T or Pixel if you want the Google specific software.

I picked up the Pixel 3 XL and love it. The camera is amazing and the smaller bezels look really sharp. The notch was a little jarring at first, but after a week I don't even notice it anymore. There are lots of stories of software bugs (notch on the side, memory management) but I haven't experienced them at all.

I also got the Pixel wireless charger and it's great. It was free with preorder, though.

I think I'm aiming for a Huwaei Mate 20 pro or the P30 pro when it comes out. Really waned a P20 pro but just a tick out of my price range at the time.

Mate 20 Pro seems like it has all the things I want with minimal bloatware.

I have had my Mate 20 Pro for 2 weeks now. Best Android phone ever in my estimation.

Picophone works on some carriers but it's very limited for LTE / 4g (band7) It will switch to 3g. Hence I won't be getting one. A friend has one in Canada and I've gotten the run down from him. It's not consistent LTE 4g due to its lack of band 4.

The Meizu 16 will work though, band 4 and band 7 compatible. It's a great flagship phone for around 500-550 shipped. The only issue I have with it is no micro SD slot.

I would still be worried about coverage, maybe.
Kimovil.com still shows the international version still only working on about half the Canadian lte bands. Tbh I have no idea how that translates into coverage.

But yeah, it's definitely got impressive hardware for a phone at that price point.
Haha. I agonized more over buying my last phone than I did over my last vehicle. Lol
Good luck!

I transitioned from a S7 Edge to Note 9 in the past few days. One heck of a phone.

A few things - first time I've been getting used to a virtual 'Home' button - I find it flakey to be immediately available while running certain applications. Any thoughts on improving this?

I've been experimenting with Launchers - Nova; Evie and Pixel. Nova leads the pack but without Premium - many features are disabled such as configuring swiping. I'd purchase it but want at least a preview. What is the consensus on best Launchers to consider? I'm pumped for the Samsung UI due out in Jan set to replace Samsung Experience. It seems to be the real deal removing a lot of bloatware.

Spend the money on Nova, it's worth it

Night shot is arriving for Pixel phones now and it's a legit game changer for mobile phone photography going forward.
