You all realize that they don't cut the vascular tissue, right? It's the vas deferens that is cut, a thin tube that is near the vascular tissue in the spermatic cord. Large vascularization is probably just an issue because it may obscure the vas deferens. It has no bearing on your pain or recovery.

Yeah, I was the same. Barely any swelling and discomfort requiring immediate rest past the first few days.
I did get some random additional discomfort/tightness/soreness at around 2-4 months. But it went away on its own around 4-6 months later.

The way Dr Crouse explained it to me was that he had to move the vascular bits out of the way more than usual to get a clean cut, and that would likely cause more swelling.

I just got my referral and was told the wait list is about a year. My other option is to look at private clinics. I live in the NWT. So the travel would likely be the biggest expense of going private, not the clinic fees.

Well, I officially found out I am the 1 in 1000 that remains fertile; thankfully with two failed swimmer tests and nothing more serious. I’ve got a referral for a urologist and then I guess we’ll see the pros and cons of getting it done a second time.

Ah ####, that sucks... how the hell does that even happen, does the vas reconnect somehow during the healing process? The way they describe it, it barely seems possible.

Yah, the usual way of failure is it reconnecting somehow. For me, I had scar tissue which made the procedure far more complicated on the one side than the other. So, the likely issue with mine is it just didn’t get snipped properly, but who knows. I had three options; 1) re-do it with the Vasman 2) get a referral for a urologist 3) say “screw it I tried” and give up. Vasman recommended the urologist route and I think that will be the best too. My urologist appointment is a month from now, so that wasn’t too bad at all. My current plan is if they think it is an easy second procedure I’ll give it a go again, but if there is some concern it may not work I’m not sure I’m willing to go through with it just to still be firing live ammo again. We also have a likely hereditary “male plumbing” issue in my family, so I’ll be discussing that with the urologist as well and just see if we should fix it all at once.

You could just cut the balls right off. There's always work for eunuchs in the courts of nobles and kings.

T'was once a thing called a Castrato. There's recordings of him in about 1902 when he was in his mid 40s. It's quite haunting IMO. Maybe him being past his prime at the time contributes to this.
