What male character in the MCU would be the equivalent of a Mary Sue? Maybe there's a reason people see Captain Marvel as one?
Already said, but Scott Lang is far and away the most Mary-sue character in modern films.
Haven't seen captain marvel yet, but to assume she is some deus ex machina seems off, if there is one certainty in all of this it is that end game is not in fact the end game. When you include the Xverse they have announced they will be pulling into the MCU, there is like a dozen more movie dates already announced. This is not some over powered character dropped into the conclusion. This is Roberto ripping off the mustache in a soap opera, to reveal Jack has been present all along.

also Nebula made it back with Tony and join the avengers.
Carol Danvers was not in that group walk though the hanger in the white suits.
Natasha had long red hair through most of the trailer but short blonde hair when her and Thor were meeting Carol at the Avengers compound.
To me it is very likely meeting Carol takes place very separated from the team recovering Scott, Clint & Tony and she probably follows a different story line from the team for most of the movie.
Those white suits look allot like a hybrid of pymtech and starktech, pads all in the same spots as Antman but bigger and more rigid looking alla Ironman. Did Tony get a hold of Scotts suit to get them to the quantum realm?
Super heroes are going to be physically strong characters. There are going to be a lot of really strong characters in the MCU. Every one of these characters faced setbacks in their own films and still aren't impossibly strong in Infinity War. Strange's powers are even explained because of the infinity stone he has - it is only taken away from him by somebody who has more infinity stones. Once it is taken away, he loses a lot of his strength.
Marvel seems to be afraid to show any flaw or weakness in Captain Marvel. It's weird. It's boring. She starts her film as incredibly strong, and ends it by being invincible.

The assumption of Captain Marvels power level is absurd. At best she is partially as powerful as 1 infinity stone. So less powerful than vision less powerful than strange. She isn’t going to just come in a beat Thanos. That is a crazy straw created by people who want to advance the Mary Sue case.
In her film she starts as a prisoner with no memory of who she is whose power can be taken away. She is a person without agency and the movie is her establishing that agency. She is also not invincible, nothing has suggested that she is.
Basically Marvel wants her in the Universe for the next phase. If she wasn’t introduced here she couldn’t be introduced in the future. She isn’t going to be Superman in Justice League. She likely has a significantly smaller role than either Cap or Ironman. They didn’t vaporize Spider-Man, black panther, the GotG, Stange etc to bring in Marvel to clog up screen time. This will still be the last ride for this iteration of the Avengers.

The right decision IMO and probably should have never been fired to start with. Immediately owned up to the mistake, apologized, and didn't appear that there were any issues beyond those tweets.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was kind of the plan all along - always seemed a bit weird they never named a new director in the year since he was first removed.
Also think that Captain Marvel succeeding at the box office even though it had it's own Right-Wing attempt at highjacking the reviews of that film potentially helped them finalize the decision and decide to announce it now.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was kind of the plan all along - always seemed a bit weird they never named a new director in the year since he was first removed.
Also think that Captain Marvel succeeding at the box office even though it had it's own Right-Wing attempt at highjacking the reviews of that film potentially helped them finalize the decision and decide to announce it now.
It would seem odd if that was the original plan, as it allowed Gunn to sign a contract with their rival. Great news to have Gunn back though, the more movies by him the better.
The latest Flash update is that WB wanted to go a lighter route which the directors also wanted. However Ezra Miller wanted a darker story so he and Grant Morrison wrote a script they are going to present to WB and WB will decide which direction to go. If they go the lighter route then Ezra Miller looks to be done as Flash.
What are folks thoughts on the tv series coming to Amazon Prime, "The Boys"?
I loved the comic series, so will have to find some way to watch this show.
I have the first 10-12 issues from when it was originally released. I really wanted to like it but as the series went along it just got gratuitous with trying to shock the reader. I love dark humour and offside jokes but it felt like Ennis was trying for shock more than substance.
I'll give the show a try because I've enjoyed Preacher.
Captain Marvel was good, but nothing special. Pretty formulaic. 7/10

I'm not entirely convinced the cat isn't Mar-Vell.
Are there really no light speed ships in the MCU? Weren't they jumping entire galaxies in GOTG2? Lightspeed, in comparison, is like an ant walking next to a bullet train.

Howard Stark recovered the tessaract right after the events of the first Captain America. He then went on to help form Shield, and Mar-Vell was working in the Pegasus program, which Shield ran. No idea about the lightspeed engine stuff, we've seen ships jumping around the galaxy with ease so far so I don't see how travelling at light speed helps anything
