Looking at the standings. It looks like they will need to go 5-3 or 6-2 to get in. It's a bit complicated with the points percentage system in the AHL. Not impossible, but their last 10 prior to last night hadn't been great 4-5-1.

I'd like to see Foo up with the big club for a couple games to end the season. He had a very slow start but he has hit 20 goals now and has been playing much better.

Foo has 8 goals and 5 assists in the last 14 games. I can’t remember how many more call ups the Flames are allowed this year, but he should be one of them.

0-0 after the 1st period against the Cleveland Monsters. Very winnable game.

Goaltender Nick Schneider was called up to Stockton after the Calgary Hitmen season ended.

Backing up Rittich tonight.

I wonder why he wasn't sent to Kansas City.

Rittich will most likely play every game down the stretch to try and make the playoffs. Parsons will get the bulk of the starts in KC.

Well that was fun. 5-0 Monsters. Did the Flames proud and after owning the first 35 minutes completely fell apart after the 2nd goal.

Wow, the baby Flames are emulating the big club. 6-0 loss to the last place team in the AHL while fighting for a playoff spot. Really hope the organization clears out the entire coaching staff including Huska. Too many common issues across the two clubs to be a coincidence. Facts are stubborn things.

To be fair the team is bare down the middle and missing their highest scorer in Eat Bread. Season isn't over yet. They will probably need to go 6-2 To finish to get in. I'm rooting for them.

No doubt they've been hurt by call-ups and injuries but there is a pattern here. Would be great if they could turn it around but definitely trending in the wrong direction.

They're young, have injuries and a bunch of players have been called up to the Flames and looked pretty good this season.

The Heat are a development team. It would be great to see them win everything, but you have to look at the bigger picture. They're doing pretty well all thing considered.

It’s obviously better if they are winning but holy crap is their center depth bad. Last year was the year for them to possibly go far in the playoffs with Janko and Eat Bread. AHL success is often depended on the type of career AHL guys you have. If the Flames still employed Mason Raymond I’m sure they would be better, Raymond looked like Gretzky in the AHL haha.

Yeah it's a tough balancing act. They're a development team so you don't want to bring in a bunch of vets who may take ice time away from prospects who are in the team's long term plans. It would be nice to bring in one or two for depth and the chance of winning more games, as I believe winning and success are also valuable.

But I try not to get too hung up on the team success but rather how the prospects are progressing and how they play when they get a chance with the big club. In the recent past I've been pretty happy with how the young guys look in the NHL when they get called up.

Seems as though you’d like your AHL guys getting exposed to playoff games. That’s why teams have a few AHL vets sprinkled in their lineups. The right vet provides leadership and helps players learn how to win big games. There’s still plenty of room for your top and medium prospects to play.
