Speaking of 20-goal scorers, which one will be the next Glencross? I would say 3/4 have potential to drop off substantially.

I think he gets somewhere in the 2.5m × 4 years range.

Yeah, "everyone". People who talk like any group acts like an individual loses all credibility immediately.
Gee, do you think any threads about player X might draw a disproportionate number of fans of X? Aleks, get your brain in gear and add something constructive.

I dont know about his 'head for the game' by all accounts hes a good teammate and he plays a rough, heavy game.
My reservations are that I believe his stats were elevated from playing with McDavid, even though he had a good spell of success in NJ as well, but this guy is on the wrong side of 30, so that 'heavy game' could be compromised, further, it could well be his last contract and he'd want to get paid for a career year.
If he was looking at a 2 or 3 year deal in the $2.5 or less range then I'd be less hesitant.

StLouis must be a nice place to live or something. Seems like they have a lot of luck bringing guys in and bringing guys back at healthy prices.

Isn’t he from STL? Doubt the Flames could have had him at that price.

Yeah but the only reason he is signing that contract is because he wants to be in STL because of his son. He wouldnt do that anywhere else.
I hope he has a decent year and gets his extension. He's taking a risk doing what he's doing.

That is an excellent price for St. Louis. Maroon is a serviceable top 9 forward, and at that contract, really adds value to their depth.

Surprised thats all he could get out of Stl. Feels like he left a lot on the table. I can understand taking a discount to play where you want but this seems like a massive discount. If his play declines it could cost him a ton of money.

Took a massive discount to be near his son. He is taking less money than what he was paid last season.
Also sounds like he has a handshake agreement for an extension on January 1st, which as noted could evaporate after a major injury or down season or if the Blues simply change their minds.

Say what you will about the contract, but I respect the hell out of Maroon for sacrificing career gains for being a proper father to his children. That will last far long after the money is gone.

So Maroon turned down other deals for the sake of family or was there just not that much interest?
Hope for him he gets a nice extension in January. And yeah St. Louis has had a nice off season and they haven’t given up much to acquire all these forwards.

If they verbally agreed to a contract extention for January why not just do the full contract right now? Is it maybe because St Louis wants to see if he still has production or something?
