Lindholm would have been a steal if he was doing just half of what he's currently doing.
I almost feel bad for the guy, if he was an RFA at the end of this year instead of last year he'd be looking at $7 million AAV at a minimum IMO.

Good point. If this pace continues and he gets to 90 points it probably starts with an 8 instead of a 7

They've lost Ferland like 20 times this season already

I'm hoping the Canes make the playoffs at the expense of Columbus since they put all their eggs in one basket with their TDL acquisition and because it would enrage Torts.

His trade value would be astronomical.
It's almost unbelievable we were able to acquire a player like this.

Especially when people were saying Ferland = Lindholm when this trade first manifested.
Brad Treliving continues to impress me. I would argue he wins more trades than loses them hands down. And his contract negotiating skills are phenomenal.

Lindholm has turned into our Mark Stone, for half the cap space!

Pretty much that. Stone is a bit better defensively, but Lindholm taking draws and being a better skater has its advantages. Not to mention being younger and the great salary for the team.

I'm not trading Lindholm and his contract for Stone and his contract, that's for sure.
re: the earlier comment about half of Lindholm would still have been a great trade. Well that's what I thought we were getting. A 20 goal, 50 point guy potentially who could play up and down the lineup. At least this year, he is playing like one of the elite players in the league. 90 points!!

Yeah it’s been amazing how he’s kept going up the teams leaderboard. Back when we had five players nearing 50 points it was Giordano and Lindholm bringing up the rear. He’s passed Tkachuk and Monahan and has actually made up ground on Gaudreau lately.

I'm rooting for the Jackets. One because I respect the going all in approach and two would be good for their market. Also another team to root for against Tampa.

If Lindholm was to put up 70 points next year, his contract likely starts being regarded as the best non-entry level deal for any forward.
It appears that the long term security of this deal has allowed Lindholm to settle in and take his game to a new level. Often players struggle in that first year of a long term deal. But it's not the case here. He was a top 5 pick for a reason. Now he's showing why.

That changes the whole trade discussion a bunch.
His trade value for Calgary would have dropped dramatically today.
