That Cowboys beer tent does its magic. Should have law firm kiosks set up outside.

I havent chimed in because I really have no relevant experience, advice or contacts, but just know that the jokes are just there to try and lighten up a dark topic for you during a difficult time.
Sorry man, and best of luck.

Sorry dude, been there and done that. If there are kids involved, try to keep conversation civil, it'll help the process, and they'll appreciate it.
Secondly, there will be difficult days and it'll feel like it'll never get better, but it does.

Thanks. It’s been easily the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with. The kids are the main concern. There’s no smoking gun and no one thing but it was a total blindside. But I’ve heard this is the hardest part. So onward and upward I guess

It's a process...try not to sweat the court dates too much.
Everything is going to be okay

If it is a process, maybe he or she should hire Treliving. He is good at that. Maybe he could convince the other person to just leave, and take less money while doing so.

When it comes to your kids and future finances make sure you're fighting for yourself. A lot of lawyers are content to push paperwork and let you destroy your future.
Don't give up long term concessions for short term gains.
Best of luck, it's a nightmare but there will be a sign of relief at the end.

I had a great lawyer, not from a litigious aspect but from common sense, he was clear from the start, hold the line on joint custody and half the house and no alimony just child support, nothing else is worth arguing over.
My ex desperately wanted to use court to fight over anything and everything, which was weird because she wanted the divorce not me, at one point when we were in discovery (?) she demanded the canoe I would take my kid canoeing in knowing full well it would annoy me, as I started to argue my lawyer just leaned over and whispered in my ear as it was about to go to arbitration as we couldn't agree 'you will be able to buy an effing sailboat for the cost of the argument over the canoe'
I saw sense and told her to keep the canoe, three months later she rings me up and asks if I want to buy the canoe off her as she has no way of moving it in her sports car, now I will admit it was a bit childish but my reply was 'not if it was the last boat in the world and God was bringing back Noah and the sodding flood'
Just remember arguing costs extra money so only do it for the big stuff, the house the kids etc and my advise is if you can pull it off is be as upset mopey and sad as you can manage around the ex, never let her know if you have a girlfriend, she will be way easy to deal with if she feels sorry for you, once court is over live your life and rub it in her face if you want but hold off until court is done
