nice big bang longsuffering. Unfortunately, I'm rebuilding my collection once again (I sold some to people who really wanted them).
Currenly I only have the Panerai 117 and Breitling Crosswind in possesion. I hope to score a superocean and possibly zenith.

i dont understand spending so much money on a watch ... it tells the same time as a $10 watch, doesnt it?
so where is the value in a $5,000 watch?

Style and status.
Much like a nice car a nice watch is a status symbol. I wouldnt walk into a client meeting wearing a $10 Wal-Mart timex.

why not? you think they care about your watch more than your solution or product?
i am in 100's of vendor meetings a year, and not once in 15 years have I looked at the watch. not once.

depends on the industry I guess. I'm sure folks like lawyers and corporate bankers will tell you that their appearance impacts their impression.

A nice watch is much like a nice suit, or appropriate attire. Clients want someone who is successful at what they do, and a nice watch is a method of demonstrating that you are successful.

No, that's like 10 years ago and that's what you see on the street. Factories in Guangzhou are pumping out perfect reps (that still cost hundreds) of watches and handbags like crazy these days.

Believe me, they care. The industry I used to work had a lot of corporate types wearing high end luxury watches. However, a lot of them are also collectors. You should see how quickly and easily it was for me to spark up a rapport wtih them when they see me wearing a vintage IWC.

Sadly, those are just concept watches - much like concept cars you'll never see the light of day. Are they going to be produced and sold? If if they are sold, I predict a 30K plus price tag.
