It should help immensely. All those people who live in the SW area south of the reservoir won't have to turn onto the bottle neck that is 14th street, then head west on Glenmore. They can all head west towards the RR access via 90th ave and Southland (and possibly Anderson?). That alone should alleviate a huge portion of traffic.
Even coming from where I live in McKenzie in the SE, if I want to head to the NW I won't have to take Deerfoot to Glenmore anymore. Can just head there via the RR. Will it be faster? Hard to say as it very well might be the same amount of time. But less busy and less stressful? Definitely.
Maybe I'm just super optimistic, but I think this might be one of the most positive overall impacting road construction projects in Calgary's history.
