FWIW, Google Maps showed Stoney open between Peigan and 22X yesterday.

Southbound DF under 22X was way more open tonight - no left lane closures at all. It felt a lot more ready to be open.

They're close. On Twitter AB Trans is starting to say things like "a few things left", which is more than they've previously said. Weekend (the third in a row) is pretty much a write off due to weather.

Deliniators and Barrels on Peigan and on the ramps are all gone. SB to EB ramp is now two lanes, along with two lanes each way over the bridge.

I suspect the opening is coming.

Still not done around Deerfoot/22X and on the Sun Valley/Chaparral bridge.

This afternoon from 52nd to Deerfoot all of the baracades had been removed, and it had been bumped up to an 80 zone. I know the plan is to make it 100; I wonder if this is some sort of compromise.

That's a good sign as they're inching closer to traffic availability, but some it is also them merely realizing (finally) that they need not have a 50 zone in an area where no equipment is present.

Nothing, but this article makes it sound like they are really close. Like, the next few days according to the contractor. The government folks are less optimistic though.

There's still concrete to be poured on 52nd street and the right lanes in both directions are still closed aproaching the overpass.

Lights on Deerfoot were out last night heading north from just passed dunbow road and well over the river and up the hill.

Saw some activity in the far se end tonight around 130th and 22x or whatever we call it now. Few trucks going up and down the east freeway and what looked at first like a sander but it may have been going too fast to be a sander. Anyway it was pretty much right at midnight.

Not really earth shattering but I haven't seen workers there at this time of night ever.

Only way it opens today is if AB Trans is waiving some stuff left to be done, which we know they are since the article said they've written a new contract. Today is possible.

I can't see it opening today, not with this weather. The whole thing would need to be plowed, and then you would be allowing traffic onto a road that no one had driven on before, adding that to it potentially being slippery.

Yeah you're right, I was unaware that it was going to snow today. The "new" contract does have me interested though, in that probably provides provisions for them to get the road opened by the end of the month. Hopefully.

The new contract makes sense; if from what I understand there was a clause that said they wouldn't have to pay penalties from December 1st through the winter. If the contracter knew they couldn't be done by December 1st, they might not even try. That would leave us hanging until April. With a new contract they could identify a list of "must have's" to open, and allow the road to be used with possible speed reductions until the spring.

There is still penalties after Dec 1, it just is reduced so that the payments would be only 2/3 of what they would be if the road was open (the penalty effectively then is only 1/3 of what it was).

They also don't get paid any of that money until the road is done though, so they are also losing out on the interest from not getting the money.

They sacrificed everything? Give me a break. The construction crews made a buttload of money in overtime and the parent company will make around 3/4 of a billion dollars. Cry, cry, cry...

Lindsey needs to keep a lid on statements like that to the media. They're embarrassing.
