Mavericks host the Allen Americans today for an afternoon game. Mason McDonald gets the start.

Mavs take over the first period putting up 16 shots to the Americans 4. Hunter Smith missed a juicy one timer in the opening minutes of the game but made up for it in the closing minute of the game with a goal off of Mike McMurtry's rebound. Allen thought they had a goal midway through the period but Mike McMurtry was able to sweep the puck out of the crease before it crossed the line. Quiet whistle period with no penalties for either team.

Allen ties it 1:19 into the second after a rebound goes off they post and they bury it. Justin Breton gets a quality shot from the point and rips it off the crossbar. Eric Freschi dealt a monster of a hit by his own bench and the Americans retaliate by initiating a fight. He leaves the period with 12:37 to go with a game misconduct and 5 minutes for fighting. His misconduct came from spitting on the opposing player. Might result in a game suspension. The Allen Americans visibly get dirtier in their checks and tensions build across the building. They get some great opportunities through the end of the second but the score stays even at 1. Shots end 29-15 after 2.

Dan Correale blocks a shot at center ice and crawls back to to bench and needs to be lifted by teammates to make it over the boards. He did not return to the game.

Americans take a seat for a slashing call and the Mavs are slow to make the jump but put some pressure on in the 2nd half of the power play. Just over halfway through the 2nd a rebound comes up high in front of the net and Allen bats it in to take the lead 2-1. A turnover gets a one-timer set up for Allen and finds the back of the net glove side on McDonald with 3:47 to go in the game.

After a timeout Mike McMurtry gets a quick shot off the draw and closes the gap to 3-2 for the Americans.

Final score 3-2 Americans with shots 41-23 in favour of the Mavericks. They get another shot at them tomorrow

Defensemen Kayle Doetzel was recalled back up to Stockton today. He originally came down with Hunter Smith on October 18th.

Mavericks get another shot at Allen for a Monday night contest. As expected, Tyler Parsons gets the start. Mavericks only dress 14 skaters tonight due to injury and the Doetzel call up.

First period starts similarly to last night. The Mavs put up a lot of shots early then the Americans start to work the other side of the rink. Another early close call came for the Mavericks when a loose puck found its way in dangerous territory but thankfully Tyler Elbrecht was quick on his feet and ended up on the bottom of a doggy pile on the puck. Looked like he had it under his glove. Parsons saves were spread out through the first 10 but more frequent throughout the 2nd half of the period. Mavs were good blocking the shots but a couple players were a bit slow to get up on some of them.

Period two was big for the Mavericks. Mike McMurtry scores two power play goals and Parsons doesn't give the Americans any room to answer back. Tonight's game visibly differs in the case that Mavs are finally taking advantage of the power plays. Allen shows why they have the worst PK in the ECHL. As Mavs are already 2/4 on the night.

Another power play for the Americans earns the Mavericks another power play goal. Getting them up to 3/5 on the power play. Mark Cooper rips one top corner and McMurtry picks up his 3rd point of the night. Patch Alber getting his 2nd assist.

Patch Alber gets a holding call midway through the third and Allen makes the decision to pull their goalie and play a 6 on 4 pp. This works on them and they beat Parsons for the first time in this game. He is fallen on top of and his leg appeared to bother him short after but didn't seem to be an issue for the rest of the game. Mark Cooper comes back on the rush and nets his second of the night. Mark Cooper gets a 4 point game with this goal with earlier assists on McMurtry's first two goals.

Mavs get their revenge after all winning it 4-1. Shots end 40-24 in favour of the Mavericks.

1st Star Mark Cooper
2nd Star Mike McMurtry
3rd Star Tyler Parsons

Mavericks picked up defenseman Ales Sova from the Quad City Mallards as part of a future considerations trade. He has 1 assist and 2 penalty minutes on the 16 games he’s played this season.

I wasn’t able to cover this one live but the Mavericks fell 2-1 to the Colorado Eagles tonight. Tyler Parsons started but got injured in the first period and McDonald came in for relief. There is no more information about his injury at this time. Hoping for a better update tomorrow. Dan Correale was back in this one after being injured two games ago.

Mike McMurtry got his 14th of the year but the Mavs were unable to battle back. Correale unfortunately drew a game misconduct after a dirty 5 minute major for slashing.

They will get another shot at them tomorrow. Shots ended at 32-30 for the Mavs

Mavericks fall to the Colorado Eagles again tonight but are still able to get a point out of it after losing in the shootout. The final score was 4-3 for the Eagles.

Hunter Smith opened up the scoring followed by Patch Alber and Jordan Kwas. Mike McMurtry picked up an assist on Alber's goal and extended his point streak to a staggering 9 points in the last 5 games. Mason McDonald got the start in this game. He stopped 30/34 shots tonight. Mavericks registered 36 shots of their own.

After watching replay of the Tyler Parsons apparent injury last night it looks as if he was clipped by an opposing player and may have tweaked his left knee. Hard to say but his injury is being labeled as lower body and there is not a lot of information at this time. The Mavericks added Sam Barnett before tonight's game as an EBUG.

The Mavericks hit the road after this one for a 7 game road trip. They will not be on home ice again until New Years Eve. Next game is Tuesday night against the Allen Americans

I have gone through my sources and I have not been able to find any specific information on Tyler Parsons injury. It is being listed as lower body and at the moment there isn't a time frame for when he is expected to be back. He did not make the road trip to Texas with the team for these two back to back games.

Mason McDonald was in net for the Mavericks for their third meeting against the Allen Americans. They lose 5-2 and McDonald stops 35 shots and the Mavericks register 41 of their own.

The first period started out well. They seemed to be going almost shot for shot with Allen. They ended the period trailing 2-1 but Mike McMurtry was able to score in the second to tie it up. The third is what really hurt the Mavericks. It seemed Allen got one up on them and it just spiraled out of control. The empty netter goal seemed to seal their fate. In the third period alone Allen got 21 shots to the Mavs 8. The push in the end is where this team appears to need work.

Another big issue that seemed to come up was the fact that the 2nd period started with a full two minute, two man advantage for the Mavericks and they were only able to register one shot on goal. They also put up 22 penalty minutes to Allen's 10 so hopefully tomorrow they are able to make the adjustments.

Thanks for the updates. Your game write ups are great.

Man McDonald seems to be having another pretty lousy year. Could have been Demko. Not that the Flames really need a Demko with Gillies and Parsons, but McDonald really looks like a wasted pick.

#Flames goaltending prospect Tyler Parsons has been the go-to guy in KC but was injured this past weekend. Likely to miss a couple of weeks, not believed to be serious.

So when Parsons gets injured does he stay in Kansas City? I saw he didn't travel with the team so where does he stay?

I believe it would've been Kansas City yes. The other previously injured players would get treatment locally and I would assume he would have done the same.

Mavericks squeak past the Allen Americans tonight in a 4-3 overtime victory. Mason McDonald was in net.

Matt Robertson was the overtime hero in this one just coming back for his first game after an injury. He was leading the team in points prior to his injury so it is nice to see he is making a smooth transition back into the swing of things.

They absolutely peppered the Allen goalie tonight putting up 47 shots to Allen's 26. This is the most shots they put on goal in a single game this season. They overshot them the whole game. Every period ended with the Mavericks almost doubling the American's on the shot clock. Allen also swapped those penalty minutes around tonight having 21 while the Mavericks only had 11.

Hunter Smith is keeping things consistent and seems to be putting up points every game or two. He put up KC's first goal in the 2nd period when they were trailing 2-0. Jared VanWormer also had a great night. He scored the tying goal with just over 2 minutes to go in the game and also had the helper on the game winning goal.

After this game the Mavericks hold a 6-1 record in games past regulation. They are able to keep the ball rolling throughout the weekend where they head to Wichita for a double header on Friday and Saturday.
