Bergeron will play where ever needed...but will most certainly be on the ice in the defensive end starts as much if not more than any of those guys in a close game.
he may just be put on the wing with Tavares full time as well....nevermind kill penalties.
He will see a TON of ice.
I think this is why this teamis so different fom what most thought.
It is constructed like a real team...not an allstar team.
Lots of guys will have very different roles than they see on their NHL clubs, and thats reflected in the selections.
He will play lots on the PK I am sure..however if he plays regularly on the wing he never should of made it, imo.
A real team filled with star players would have them on their 4th line or maybe even as an extra forward to play regular PK team, imo.
Edit - TSN just had him listed as the 13/14th forward.
Iginla would be a better choice than both of them.
I love Iggy but no way he should be on this team. He is wayyy to slow for normal ice let alone international sized ice.
Nash may be struggling but that guy can skate real fast.
And Carter may not be a consensus pick but that guy can also skate really fast (good on PK as well).
Hes a fast north-south player with a great shot. A younger Marleau basically. So not sure why they didn't take Giroux over Marleau. Oh well, we are still stacked!

Marleau is faster and 40 pounds heavier than Giroux. Tougher to play against and a better bottom 2 line player.

The only reason Bouwmeester is on this team is Pietrangelo. By the same logic, Seabrook should be on the roster. I would actually be OK with that, chemistry is good.
The Nash choice needs to be explained. Iginla should be on the team before him. There are much better choices for pure RW types.
While I like the Bergeron pick for a character guy and faceoof man, you could've easily picked Giroux over him IMO.
I actually like the HAmhuis choice, he gets overlooked by a lot of people but he's one of the best shutdown guys in the league. This team needed atleast one pure shutdown guy, they have plenty of offense on the blueline already.
Personally would like to see Seguin on this team, The kid is a winner, he's been huge in Dallas -- would've picked him over Carter/Bergeron.
Seabrook vs. Bouwmeester might have been a similar situation if there was a glut of left handed D, rather than what is now.
I bet Bergeron is our second most important forward (behind Mr. Crosby). Toews showed some cracks in last year's playoffs, Stamkos is coming back from injury, and this is Tavares' first Olympics.
Wow, Kunitz? He's basically a 3rd liner leeching off Crysby, but I guess the chemistry is important too. At least a couple dozen more deserving players though. Kinda sucks for them.

Really? Because I could only think of less than a dozen players that should of been there ahead of Kunitz.
There would be 5 dozen more deserving players than Nash and Carter with that logic

Kunitz was a top 6 player before joining the Penguins and anyone that doesn't know that doesn't follow the NHL closely.

The 3 goalies chosen don't have a Stanley Cup ring! Lame picks in net, can't believe Team Canada is going with those netminders. Price has won 1 game 7 and that was in the 1st round, Smith hasn't played in a game 7, and we know Loserongo blew it in game 7 for the cup. This team will have an extremely tough time getting to the medal round with that goaltending in this international all-star tournament. Forwards and defensemen look solid and there are ten players that have won the Stanley Cup.

It's not like our cup winning goalies are much better.
Fluery has been hot garbage in the playoffs since winning the cup.
Ward has been mediocre at best for many years now and hasn't seen the playoffs since 2009.
Brodeur was horrible at the 2010 Olympics.
Giguire is a back up at most.
Crawford is on arguably the best team in the league and is putting up much lower numbers than Luongo and Price.

Who the hell would you take instead? Fluery and Crawford?
