I get the dinner part. Never understood the "and a movie" part of a date. At least not with someone you've just started dating. What's more awkward than sitting silently beside an almost stranger for two hours?

Maybe it's more of a thing to do with the wife, when you get to the point you're tired of talking to each other?

I don't think it's ideal for a first or 2nd date but plenty of couples do a movie night.

I went to the movies to see Cats on LSD and it was amazing. No way I would have gotten that trip watching it at home.

Then again maybe they're moving that way, I can't remember the last movie I saw in theaters.
After watching the last Star Wars movie in the new Landmark Cinema in the NW that has leather reclining seats, I'll never pay for another regular theater ticket. The movie may have been total garbage, but at least I was comfortable

We have some a pretty nice theater here called Cinebistro. Nice, large reclining seats, set up in pairs with a pretty big gap between each pair. They serve good craft beer/wine/drinks and a pretty solid menu to your seats while previews are playing. 21 and over after 6, and it is such a better experience, that we stopped going anywhere else. I just hope they survive Covid!

Which one is the one that smells like piss in Kensington? Went there once years ago to watch the movie "The Rocket". That was enough of that place for me.

The Plaza is the only one in Kensington, so maybe there? Never smelled like piss when I went, but that was over a decade ago.

Do you have iPic theaters up there? They’re boutique theaters that aim to be social destinations. Trendy decor, handcrafted cocktails, pillows and blankets, etc

https://www.ipic.com/

I’ve never been due to lack of interest.

Here’s your answer. Hopefully they find a solution.

Sounds like they it is just debt re-structuring for now, and they'll try to continue.

Was the Plaza damaged by the flood in 2013? I think it is ok now.

This is great news!
Been waiting for movie studios to get on this for some time.

There's so many moves that I'm excited about when I see previews but never end up seeing because I forget about them by the time they're available for home viewing as the hype and ads have dissapeared.

I would definitely rent at home while I'm still excited about the product. Theatres are a rare inconvenience for me.

It's been awhile since you've been to the theatre?
