That was what formula one should be. Just an incredible race from start to finish. Just nuke Mercedes and Hamilton into the sun and you've got the most entertaining sport in the world.

You know, I could handle TSN ads better if they had control over when they air. Instead of the excitement of the entire Verstappen catch up and pass with the crowd noise and announcers going crazy, we had loud commercials with the race in a little box until basically the end of the drama.

I would have raged if they missed the actual pass.

You can tell from that race that the frustration is starting to boil over for a lot of announcers and people close to F1. They know fans are turning away and that the sport is amazing at it's core but ruined by one team's domination.

That was some pretty genuine emotion shown by a couple announcers there. The one guy was just going "To all you tweeting me that was the last race you'll ever watch last week, what do you have to say now! This is what the sport is supposed to look like, amazing!!!!".

And it's worth stating, I love the sport and make sure to watch every race, but since mid-summer 2018 I haven't watched a full race, just the first 15-20 mins, then FF til I see pits start to happen, then some more after, and only til the end if there's a chance of some movement.

I literally sat there and watched every single minute of this and couldn't be pulled away for anything. Didn't even fast forward through TSN's commercials. That was intense, fun racing with exciting names from start to finish.

Oh one other cool interview after the race was Martin Brundle with Ferrari team principle Mattia Binotto. Martin has been just pissed at rules in place that prevent exciting wheel to wheel racing and he went right at Mattia about it.

Mattia (obviously) plead his case for a penalty on Verstappen and said by the law it should be called, Martin got really emotional and basically flat out told him "I agree with Max if that's a penalty then let's all go home". Then Mattia said something and Martin went right back at him "so what, only passes with a clear lane straightaway in a DRS zone??!!!".

You could tell it hit Mattia a bit as a race fan and he gave in a bit which was cool to see "Well, no I don't want racing to be like that, I want the action and this shouldn't be a penalty, but right now it is and should be called"..

Kind of a neat give in by Mattia there.

One last comment about yesterday being what F1 should be...I read it was only the 9th time that there was no yellow flag, VRSC, bad weather, etc. That race was start to finish all on the drivers. Just awesome.

Alrighty...here's the first of two updates. This is for France. Looks like the terrible race paid off as I just nipped Jepworth (didnt submit picks so copied from Canada). The race for top spot has really tightened.

3thirty had his first "bad" week...luckily for me he slept in

Lots of people had 9/10 right and no one had Vettel with the fast lap in P5.

Spoiler!

Here's Austria...wow. BagoPucks had 9/10 right and managed a whopping 23 points. Just shows how crazy of a race it was. Cecil had the best score with 8 right and 29 points. Easily the lowest scoring race of the season.

3thirty extended his lead at the top with 3rd - 6th covered by 11 points.

All I have to say is stupid Verstappen...Leclerc pick was looking great for a few us.

Here's what I was thinking with the "prizes" since we had a bit extra. I think the Most Correct is a pretty good achievement and there's about 6 of us that could win it.

- 1st: Trophy (annual) + Niki Hat
- Most Correct Total Picks: 1/43 RBR Verstappen model from Red Bull Ring + Niki Hat

There's still about $15 left and I'll try and grab something later this year for the Most Correct Picks for 2020 season from Austin.

If anyone has other ideas, PM me.

Spoiler!

Here's hoping that this weekend at Silverstone gives a similar result to Austria!

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/s...-2024/4491955/
In racing news...Silverstone also got extended through 2024, which is great news. It'd be weird to not have a race in the British country side. Although F1 is still actively pursuing a London race apparently.

Ferrari wanted a reversion to the 2018 tires...this one I dont get. All teams have to use the same rubber and its very clear who can make them work (McLaren, RBR, Merc) and who can't (Ferrari, Haas). I'm glad it failed. Pirelli has a tough job, but I think they're doing ok.

Haha, never mind. Aparently the founder made that tweet and is in the process of being removed form the company. What a tire fire.
