The only good fast food out there, in my opinion, is Harveys. And I'm beyond sad to see the Macleod Tr location has been closed.

I find I judge fast food places by their fries more than their burgers. A&W's are typically limp and/or burnt garbage. So they're a big fail. McDonald's and Carl's Jr have delightful fries.

I'm just curious at how a thread about the PM being on the cover of rolling stones has morphed into a thread critiquing fast food burgers?

And while I do like a teenburger once in a while, A+W fries are terrible, and even worse they just don't work in poutine.

McDonald Fries are probably the best fast food fries out there, nice and crisp with the right amount of salt.

I'm surprised that Opa fries are as good as they are though.

Harvey's has been dying a slow death for a long time which is a shame, because their burgers are really top notch.

I guess people don't like the idea of building their own burgers or something like that.

Whenever we were drinking at Limerick's we'd head over in shifts and get Burgers from Harveys, eat them and then go back to bar.

Yeah, McDonald's fries with KFC gravy is the best combo. Works well in Crowfoot with both the restaurants being so close. Now this is a little counter-intuitive, but you should grab the gravy first, as it stays warm, before you get your fries.

I'm going to say the unpopular opinion here, Mcdonalds fries are garbage. Wendy's IMO has the best fries in a pinch.

Teen Burger + NY Fries Chips and Gravy. Thank you TD Square.

Why did you use 'chips' and 'fries' in the same post? If you're going to do the "use British terms for stuff even though I'm in North America" thing, you at least gotta commit.

"Chips" is fairly common in Canada.

For people over 70, maybe, but in Calgary it's used zero times per year by anybody else.

Yeah I don't think I've ever heard a non-British person here refer to fries as chips (outside of the dish "Fish & Chips"). Or refer to chips as crisps, which would be the natural extension.

The only time it is acceptable outside of the UK is when you order fish and chips, becuase fish and fires sounds weird.

Maritimers still use it, but you rarely hear it out here.

I haven't had KFC in a long time, its just too greasy for me now.

But the last time I had it I hated their gravy and I used to love it. It was almost like it had too much flour or something in it so it was almost like a bucket of gravy balls in gravy.

Its weird because the only time I can make gravy that tastes like KFC's is when I make home made swedish meatballs, which I suddenly have a freaking craving for.

Yes but most of what Maritimers say is unintelligible nonsense anyways.

Well, I'm under 70, from Calgary, and I call them chips probably about 50% of the time.

My in-laws are English, if I called them chips they'd call me on that BS in a heartbeat.

And so they should.

They know that when I say 'cheerio mate' I'm totally taking the piss.

KFC changed their gravy, apparently to make it more healthy. Because, you know, that's a big selling point to people who are buying KFC.
