Default Johnny Hockey: Countdown to 30G, 50A, 80P, needs 2 assists in 1 GR

I loved this thread from last year! We started out seeing if Johnny could beat the challenge of 20 goals and 60 points and he eclipsed it with authority.

This year so far after 42 games, he has 19 goals, 24 assists for 43 points. 7th in the league and on pace for 37 goals, 46 assists and 83 points. 2 points out of 4th in the league in scoring (fingers crossed for a big game tomorrow)

So let's start this thread off modestly, do we think Johnny can get to 30-40=70 this year? Or will the intensity pick up in the last 20 games and points be harder to come by?

Another thought I had recently was that in the last few years I have come to have big time expectations that Johnny could become a PPG player. However that was basically the top for my expectations.. Is it possible Johnny could beat 90 or 100 points in the next few years? I never even considered that as a possibility but now I'm not so sure..

The more I watch him the more amazed I am.

You know that teams are scouting him, and trying to defend him.

He doesn't have the "bull" of a body to fall back on, he has to beat/score with skill. It really is amazing and enjoyable to watch.

I think people are underestimating what Ferland/Gio/Brodie are doing for Monahan and Gaudreau right now. They're all a huge upgrade over 3rdLiner/Russell/Hamilton and spending way less time defending, way more time creating chances.

Gonna call it now.

He is only limited by his line mates. I fully believe if he was on a better team he would be in the top 3.

If they find someone who can play as well as Hudler did on that line last year, I think he will increase his pace and pass 90.

70 is a good bar to set. It's an improvement on last season and it's very reachable for him.

I think he finishes right around 82, for a neat and tidy 82 points in 82 games. 41 and 41 would just be gravy for OCD people.

Agreed...based off his projections, it'll be disappointing if he only gets 30 goals and 70 points. The bar should be higher so we're excited when he gets there!

Should I change the target to 35-45=80? That would be pretty amazing.

If Johnny was producing on the road like he does at home, perhaps he would of had a shot. But it's been 2 years since someone scored 100. I have no doubt he'll be an Art Ross contender one day. But that's a bold prediction he breaks 100 this season.

Bold prediction: He contends for the Art Ross next season.
