Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2020 - Round 34
It's time for the 8th annual Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking, but at a different time of year and certainly at a different time.
First a look back at previous years can be done with this handy link: Previous Results
Once again vote how you want. There are those that vote 100% on potential, some that vote 100% on the likelihood to see an NHL rink, others that apply a mix, some using the value in a trade. Completely up to you.
I'll run one a day until we are done, and then FlamesAddiction wants to do a one off list version to compare the results.
We start with 35 names so this should get us pretty close to a Flames camp.

He's averaging .5 goals per game!
Gotta wonder why they even drafted him. Not like he was tearing up the USHL.

He'd just wrapped up a pretty decent year in Minnesota high school hockey with Grand Rapids High, scoring 46 points in 25 games.

He was fairly well regarded in his draft year. There was a few write-ups on him by pundits circulating that year.

You should put Mattsson against some of the AHL only deal players like Leslie, Hamilton, Moro, King, Wilson etc and see if he if beats any of them. That would be interesting interneting.

I can't believe how fast it seemed to go this year. I feel like the uncertainty of the the upcoming season is playing with my perception of time.
I am going to post the supplemental poll in a little bit.
Thanks again for doing this.

Here is the supplemental poll:
http://www.polljunkie.com/poll/opzwi...-ranked-voting
All you do is click and drag and drag them into the order from best to worst, and the results get averaged. As well, there are some metrics you can look at, like how high and low players were on people's lists.
I will put it into a clean thread as well. I haven't used this polling software before, so let me know if there are any issues.

Grabbed a copy of the THN fantasy pool guide (they are being optimistic I suppose).
Comparison of our top 10 and theirs
Ours:
1. Valimaki - 85%
2. Zary - 62%
3. Pelletier - 74%
4. Wolf (Run Off)
5. Mackey (Run Off)
6. Pettersen 42%
7. Phillips 36%
8. Gawdin 28%
9. Zavgorodniy 34%
10. Poirier 39%
THN:
1. Valimaki (-)
2. Zary (-)
3. Pelletier (-)
4. Mackey (+1 - though was a run off with ours)
5. Wolf (-1 - run off with Mackey)
6. Kuznetzov (+5)
7. Pettersen (-1)
8. Gawdin (-)
9. Zavgorodniy (-)
10. Poirier (-)
That's just stunningly similar. 6/10 ranked exactly the same, with 3 of the remaining only 1 position different, two of those in a run off. The only difference is Kuznetzov much higher on their list, and we had Phillips #7 on ours.

Any list that has Zavgorodniy ahead of Valamaki may as well be thrown in the trash

I had Kuznetsov pretty high on my list. Not sure if it was 6th, but it was definitely top ten. In general I think CP is going to be pleasantly surprised at how good he is.

He's on a three-game point streak that started right after he finished dead last in this ranking.
