Let's also not forget that Honzek was strictly drafted as a winger, and it wasn't until the Giants new head coach said he wanted to play Honzek at C that we started thinking about him as a potential center.

Combine entering the season injured and playing multiple positions under a new coaching staff, it's definitely more than fair to give Honzek a lot more leash

I hate to a debbie downer but the two guys I was most excited about from the Flames draft last year have seen their offensive production take a dip in their D+1 seasons.

You can put all the different kind of spins you want on it, but that is never a good thing IMO

I’m a bit disappointed as well, Morin should be the highest scoring D in that league- my only solace is that D scoring is down across the board in that league. Only one player in the top 20 is over a ppg.

I’m not worried about either player’s NHL projections though.

Starting to wonder what is happening when Honzek is getting zeroes and someone else on the same line is having a multipoint game. This is becoming a regular occurrence.

I am really excited to see Lipinski in the AHL. Seems like he could be an uncovered gem for the middle of the lineup.

Brzustewicz is chugging along beautifully. He and Grushnikov could be a very interesting pair.

They have been playing on separate lines.

Here's the lineup tweet from March 1st:

Half joke - but Honzek can't even make the first line on his junior team? That sounds/looks silly.

Are they trying to "spread the wealth" in Junior?

Zimmer is undrafted and Levis is a 7th round pick.... I wouldn't say that's the best scenario for Honzek or his development.

There are a ton of CHL players, and only so many NHL prospects. High-end draft picks are even rarer. An NHL prospect playing with undrafted players is pretty normal.

Ideally, Lipinski is being developed into a 2-way 3rd line shutdown type C. Honzek ideally a top 6 winger. Separating them might just be a case of finding a line that fits their style better.

Honzek's point totals aren't amazing, but he's still a leader on his team for PPG and we've seen the tools he possesses. I'm not worried. When he fills out his frame he is going to be a beast.
