The St Louis Blues and Anaheim Mighty Ducks made what could be considered a major trade today as the teams shuffled their centers.
St Louis is sending young star Jack Eichel and pivot Eric Haula to the Ducks in a straight swap for John Tavares and Nico Hischler.
"We feel that this trade helps both teams" Stated Blue's GM Captain L Crunch Esq. "But we're excited to get John who's a young bonifide number one center and it gives us some contract control for two years. We're also excited to get a young center like Nico who could be a part of the team for years to come."
"From the perspective of trading away Eichel, it was a hard decision because he's a great young player on an upward trajectory. But John is tough to turn down, especially between Gabriel and Mark, and this removes some questions around our RFA budget. We also think Nico is going to evolve very nicely as a center on this team and he gives us lots of options."
Around the net - The Blues attempted to trade for Brandon Sutter of the Devils for a second round draft pick but the trade was denied by the league. "We'll continue to explore moves for a 4th line checking center, and Brandon is not out of the question yet, I think both teams will need to sit down and feel things out"
