Ducks Ducks get bent over by Flames and acquire Provorov

The Ducks spent a lot of their savings this morning.

The deal breaks down as follows

TO DUCKS
Provorov

TO FLAMES
6
34
1st (ANA) 21'
Wolf

I know I overpaid. My logic was that Provorov is probably one of maybe 5 dmen his calibre at his age in the league. It is so difficult finding guys like him and he is going to be a Norris candidate

My top 4 is now comprised of 3 stellar young dmen and 1 pretty good one. This top 4 is arguably as good as any in the league now. And with my goaltending being up in the air, I wanted a rock-solid back end.

Dhalin - Provorov
Theodore - Skjei

Thanks Ravi for the deal...I think

Nylander has now turned into 6, 27, 34, 1st (ANA) and Wolf. Well done sir.

Because we have a few brand new GMs to the league, I think someone needs to stress that this trade needs a few asterisks

***This is not a typical trade.***

I know this particular off season has proven a very broad range of trade values with some very unique trades, but this one is a great example of the variety we've seen.

If any new GM was going to give this much up for Provrov, and it went to a vote, I think the "no"s would win by unanimous vote. (or am I totally alone in that thinking?)

And I'm not trashing Curtis either. He's a super smart GM that clearly loves Provorov and had the spare assets to make the trade. I heavily overpaid for Duchene when I first joined too. Kucherov and 2 x 1sts I believe. And my own personal trade history is proof I cannot pass judgement to anyone here.

I know the market has shown us that values are scattered all over the place but just want to stress to new GMs that this is a very atypical trade and to not get your hopes up if you have a Provorov as well and think you will get a similar return.
(unless you trade them to Anaheim )

This is why Ravi and I can never agree to trades, he's always trying to #### me like he just did to Curtis!

I think this trade also stresses the benefit of talking to other GMs about deals before the trade is finalized. When I joined there were 3-4 GMs that I consistently asked for advice to determine value of players, picks, and contacts.

I will echo JonDuke in that we have all made trades that you look back on and regret, however most of those trades were made with little or no consultation with other GMs before pulling the trigger.

This league is like no other fantasy league I’ve been involved with previously. For all the good elements and some bad. But one of the best things is the willingness of GMs to provide help or advice to others. Whether it is a newb GM or a veteran GM, better to ask for info than make a deal that sets your team back years. Just ask Scorp. Or probably better if you don’t ask Scorp.

Provorov re-rates to a 75 OVR and is 10th in D-Man ratings (thank god). This deal on its own looks bad.

Combined with the Tkachuk swap and it's a bit less lopsided

Couturier (76) + Provorov (75) --> Tkachuk (73) + 34 + 1st (ANA) 21' + 1st (ANA) 22' + 2nd (ANA) 21' + Wolf
