Been on a bit of a documentary kick lately. Two that stood out were, The Dissident and The Assassins. Both kind of similar subject matter, state sponsored murders of perceived threats.
The Dissident is all about the state sponsored murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Really incredible look into the final moments of Jamal's life, the sadistic nature of his murder, using Pegasus spyware on dissidents and Jeff Bezos, and the incredible lengths that Crown Prince MBS goes to silence dissidents. Also a Canadian connection as one of Jamal's activist friends lives in Montreal. I would recommend.
The Assassins was all about the two women who murdered Kim Jong Un's half brother Kim Jong-Nam. I knew about the murder but this exposed a lot of details I had no idea about, I don't want to give too much away but it's definitely worth a watch.

Much to like. Terrific performances, loved the look of the film as well.
Spoiler!
I was completely on board until the very end where you find out father and daughter are cut from the same doomed to fail cloth and they can never, ever improve and become better people. They are simply defective. Maybe that's a life lesson or something but as a story arc I hated it, made me feel I watched the entire thing for nothing.
8/10 until the conclusion then #### right off. If you like feel bad movies then by all means.

I'm embarrassed to say that I just watched Jaws (1975) for the first time all the way through. Filmmakers today trying to build effective tension with score and without jump scares should study this movie. It's really aged well too, the effects are kinda campy at some points but overall it still hold up really well. Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw are amazing. Absolutely fantastic film.
Also I'm never going in the ocean again.

I’m an hour into Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
I think it’s good but I have no effin clue what is going on
Yup. But that particular story is one of Le Carre's most challenging to follow overall. I happen to think it's his best work. It translated to the screen okay, but it could have been better.
