Pretty sure either Bennett or Tkachuk is going to welcome him into the league.
Hopefully for him it's Tkachuk because Bennett is hitting to hurt this time of the year.

Playing defense at the NHL level is hard. Good luck kid.

I can’t imagine him just completely sucking based on what I’ve seen from him.
I would love to see him turn the puck over a bunch and for us to take advantage though, that would be fantastic.

What's a 1-8 matchup supposed to look like? Hockey isn't really like that anymore. Any playoff team is a good team...look at the other side. First round is usually the toughest.

Gotta say, the Avs look to have a bright future. Makar is a blue chip prospect, plus they get the 4th OVERALL pick this year and another 1st rounder. Kerfoot looks good, and I've always liked Jost. I think he'll put it together.
Rantanen is only 22 for Christ sakes and Mackinnon only 23.....

Agreed, He's going to need some practice to learn the system before he gets any game action.

I can't see him getting in the playoffs unless maybe they get into the 2nd or 3rd round. If he was a forward you could maybe plug him in but it's tough to throw a defenseman into the playoffs for his first ever NHL game.

Cool to see another Calgarian make the NHL, hopefully he has a good career ahead. Just not too good.

Well I would normally agree with that notion, but considering everything, the fact that we we swept them this season and won the season series the year prior, playing the worst team in the playoffs (points wise) and have the supposed depth advantage, most would have expected the Flames to be the better team.
There were a lot of questions also coming into the series about the goaltending and how Mike Smith needed to just not lose the team the series. But it’s been the exact opposite, with out Smith’s brilliant play, the Flames would likely be facing a 2-0 deficit. Right now, the Avalanche look like the #1 seed whereas the Flames look like the #8 seed. I’m hoping the team starts to play harder and with more urgency now that we’re on the road though. It’s going to take a much better effort to win at the Pepsi Center than it was at the Dome.

Earlier the Avs were talking about bringing Makar into the lineup as a seventh D, which makes a little more sense.

He's playing tonight alongside Nemeth and on the 2nd powerplay unit, maybe even higher up the lineup depending on how things go.

Cale Makar sucks and he’s going to cost the Avs more than one goal tonight.

Nice. Normally I'd be cheering for the kid since he seems to have been a die hard Flames fan and a Calgary kid. If only he wasn't the enemy. As it stands, I hope he gives up the puck that leads to multiple goals. Sorry kid, better luck next year.

Being from Brooks and a big Bandits fan I'm happy for the kid. He is going to be a great NHLer for sure. Can't cheer for him yet though.

As I thought, his first game was good. I think looking forward to exploit a rookie, you need to look past their first game, which will be marked by sheltering and adrenalin. It's the grind that gets to a rookie.
