Icon23 Canes re-sign Mrazek (2 yrs, $3.125 mil AAV)

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Hearing that Carolina is close to re-signing Petr Mrazek. Will be a two-year deal if both sides complete it without a hiccup.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Expected to be an AAV at or around $3.125M.

Smart move by Carolina. Mrazek was alright.

Fyi - I have him on my fantasy roster. I am happy he will be the bonafide starter there. Thanks for caring!

Pretty decent money for Mrazek. Hurricanes with the tandem of Mrazek and Reimer. Almost feels like a downgrade from last year, though.

I think this is a terrific deal. I bet it is a lot less than what Edmonton was prepared to pay.

I would welcome Mrazek in CGY for that money. Good signing. (Not saying that was actually an option.)

Your fantasy roster carries over year to year?

That's a pretty affordable contract. It really looks like the goaltender market is soft. One goaltender cashed in and that's it.

Doesn't earn that much more than Talbot. I'd prefer Mrazek but I can't fault the Flames for going after someone early in case they miss out on all the good stuff. Seeing the faith they have in Rittich makes me happy too.

canes get their guy for cheap. Really shows what the goalie market was this year

I find this funny. People were telling me two days ago that Mrazek was going to get $4-5 million after I mentioned that the Flames should sign him for $3 million. I think a lot of the price here is due to the fact that there were so many goalies available on the market this year. The big names take their piece, and the others have to take what they can get.

I would imagine that there was an offer that was slightly more, but Mrazek found a home in Carolina and wants to stay.

I would like to think he turned down a $6.0 m x 6 deal from Edmonton to stay in Carolina. It seems plausible.
