I took a walk through this beautiful world
Felt the cool rain on my shoulders

Your opinion was terrible and you should feel bad.

Ive attempted suicide (a lousy attempt, mind you ) and deal with suicidal thoughts.but go ahead tell me my opinion is purely derived from ignorance.

It's amazing to me that in this day and age there is still the view that suicide is the easy way out and selfish. Suicide is a complicated thing. I'm sure there are cases of selfish suicide to get back at someone but I suspect those are quite rare. Instead what you have are people taking their own lives precisely because they think it's the most unselfish thing they can do. They are removing a horrible burden from those around them. Others have sudden overwhelming desires to kill themselves almost out of nowhere that take every scrap of energy to fight. Often that fight is lost. But everyone who wants to know this already does. FG...I'm glad you have been able to fight the demons thus far. Many are in the same boat and then all of a sudden the demons become too much. It's at that point where your thinking may change on what is selfish and easy and what is not.

Bourdain made some of my favorite TV. I will miss going on adventures with him. I won't say I travel like he does but it has inspired me to make sure I try to get a taste of real world on trips rather than the tourist traps. Get out and explore. Thank you Anthony for the impact you had on my life. Condolences to your friends and family.

I love when flames gimp has another chance to act like a tough guy. It's just such obvious, over the top, macho projection. Everyone see through it dude, you're not fooling anyone. Projecting toughness won't make the sadness go away.

That I think suicide is a crappy thing to do and it’s a selfish, easy way out. I said nothing about his motives but from where I sit he Was healthy. Many people battle with depression but still battle through it and survive. Guess he didn’t have it in him. Who knows

Cool I know it’s not about me. I voiced an opinion, we can’t post opinions here? Thought it was a discussion board. See, thank you for saying thanks for your input, more mature way to respond to an opinion you don’t agree with instead of telling someone to shut the F up

So in your world he was healthy but suffered from depression?

Coming into a thread like this and calling Bourdain a crybaby who couldn't handle life wasn't the proper way to get your point across. Would you say that to one of your family members or friends? I'm not saying you should shut the f up, but there are better ways of wording your post.

We come from all walks of life, deal with our own problems but we cannot ever undermine someones problems in a way like that. I get you have your views on suicide but saying something like that just makes mental health that much harder for people to come to terms with. It enforces the stigma surrounding it.

I just read his book Kitchen Confidential - being a head chef was a very stressful life, but he seemed to enjoy it. He did a ton of drugs as a young man. There were times he was unhappy when he wasn't getting good jobs.

Its such a shame, the guy was an inspiration to me as well. To think what he's accomplished in his lifetime is amazing, he had such an interesting life it was crazy to see what he was able to do with it.

I've always said that if I had the chance to have dinner with 1 "celebrity" that he was my pick every time, the guy had a swagger and love for food that could not be rivaled. It's really too bad it ended this way, can't imagine what inner demons he was dealing with.

I’m not trying to be a tough guy I truly do not agree with suicide, Jesus. I have lost friends to suicide like I’m sure many of you have.
