Question Help: How To Wipe Phone's Date With Cracked Screen

Hey all,

So my wife dropped her LG Nexus 4 and the screen cracked and is useless now so she can't access/unlock her phone viat the touchscreen.

We agreed to sell it for parts with someone tonight, however there's data and photos on the phone that she wants to wipe clean (preferably would be great to save that information on a laptop as well).

I'm assuming if I connect via USB to a laptop I could perhaps retrieve/save the photos I need but any tips on how to wipe the phone before I sell it tonight?

Thanks CP.

This method seems to work for wiping: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2291582

However, when I connect the phone to my laptop, I'm having an issue with Windows 7 recgonizing the device, I get a "MTP USB Device Failed" message when I connect the Nexus 4...any help on this issue on how to get the computer to recognize the device so I can drag and drop any files from the phone to my laptop?

Try using the official drivers for nexus devices:

Try the toolkit, it should do everything you need to do.

Might have to get ADB on first, not 100% sure but have a read. If the bootloader is not unlocked the simple action of unlocking it will wipe the phone.

Tried the above, ADB simply would not recognize my device, I played around with all sorts of settings, driver settings and all...I think because I couldn't enable "USB debugging" on the phone it was having issues recognizing my device to begin with on the computer.

I ended up simply wiping the data, thanks all for the help!
