I've always been a fan of magic, when I was a kid I had one of those little magic kits with the gimmicked deck of foldable playing cards, the solid rings with the micro hinge, the hankies the tricked drinking glasses.
While I still like magic, I'm not a super fan of the overly grandiose over produced mass tricks made for a distant audience that you see today.
Harry Anderson came up as a street magician, he could do up close tricks that would defy your eyes. After he left Night Court he went back on the tour and for a while ran a magic shop in New Orleans.

I've had the Night Court theme song stuck in my head all morning.
Harry Anderson really was a Mel Torme fan.
Cheers was Harry Anderson's first acting job.
More Night Court trivia:
Night Court had two grey haired bailiffs before Roz (Marsha Warfield). Those both passed away from lung cancer.
Ellen Foley was the original public defender before Markie Post took over the roll.
Ellen Foley is also famous as the female lead singer on Paradise By The Dashboard Light (although she didn't tour and isn't in the video) (Ellen is also NOT the person Joe Strummer referred to in the Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" - that's an urban myth)
John Laroquette won 4 Emmy's for his role as Dan Fielding before withdrawing his name from further consideration

I always got the Night Court and Cosby Show themes mixed up in my head. Those Thursdays were a good day for TV. Family Ties, Cosby, Cheers, Night Court...

Laroquette was so good on that show. Easily my favorite character.
Another cool piece of trivia, especially for all you horror fans. Laroquette voiced the narration for the opening scene of the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

As a longtime Meatloaf fan, as well as a fan of Night Court back then, I had no idea she was on that show. Thanks for another piece of useless trivia to annoy people with.

Yeah she was credited as Mrs Loud or something like that.
but if you listen to her talk on night court and then listen to the song, you'll have zero doubt

They named the character Harry so I'd remember to react when someone said my name. By the time they figured out that I couldn't act scared on the subway at 4 a.m., I already had a five-year contract."

Foley’s second album, produced by boyfriend Mick Jones of the Clash and clotted with Kate Bush–esque experiments such as “The Death of the Psychoanalyst of Salvador Dali,” tanked. Foley and Jones’s relationship followed suit. From that, Jones got the biggest dividend: the worldwide hit and future karaoke mainstay “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” “I should have dated Joe Strummer,” laments Foley.
