Sled Island 2018

New additions to this year's lineup include live electronics masters Mount Kimbie (playing a full band set), perennial Sled Island fave and guitar wizard Mary Timony (performing her famed Mary Timony Plays Helium set), electro R&B crooner Harrison Brome and bassy troublemaker josh pan (co-headlining the Sled Island Block Party as well as playing sets at the HiFi Club), plus giddy garage rockers Peach Kelli Pop (joining an already-announced show headlined by Cherry Glazerr at Dickens).

Three new Deerhoof selections have been added to the lineup as well. We think you'll love discovering the experimental rock sounds of empath, Prissy Whip and Solid Freex as much as we did!

As always, this year's lineup features a generous helping of Canadian talent. Please join us in welcoming Michael Rault, Faith Healer, jo passed, BA Johnston, myst milano., The Avulsions, Symfan, Hood Joplin, Borscht, Cartel Madras and another 40 Canadian artists announced today.

The band will bring their dazzling live show to MacEwan Hall on Thursday, June 21 in support of their most recent release, 2017’s acclaimed Oczy Mlody.

Newly-announced acts include bass-wielding funk warrior Thundercat (headlining The Palace Theatre on Wednesday, June 20), veteran psychedelic act The Flaming Lips (appearing at MacEwan Hall on Thursday, June 21), Canadian hardcore legends No Warning (performing at Dickens on Wednesday, June 20) and Swedish indie pop sensation El Perro del Mar (playing Broken City on Friday, June 22).


Additional talent announced today includes critically-acclaimed songwriter Common Holly, dance-friendly noise-punks Eyeballs, multi-genre solo experimentalist Petra Glynt, bone-rattling noise rockers Kandekt, furious post-punk band Lié, beloved singer-songwriter Marlaena Moore, veteran psych pop act Mahogany Frog, howlin' indie punk Eamon McGrath, a double-dose of buzzworthy Indigenous hip-hop from Mob Bounce and Snotty Nose Rez Kids, theatrical pop star in the making NOVEMBER, experimental dance music maker Russell Louder, the always face-melting Shearing Pinx, snotty punks wlmrt, doom and psych purveyors WHOOP-Szo and Berlin's new wave wonder WORLD BRAIN.


A critical part of Sled Island is showing love to the musicians in our local community. We believe in all of them, but a few to whet your appetite are raw singer-songwriter Conversations with Bears, lo-fi house aficionado DJ Dine & Dash, ever-evolving indie rock act Feel Alright, improv act Friesen/Waters Duo, rap heavyweight LYRIQUE & The Honour Roll, garage-rock pros Miesha & The Spanks, dark electro-pop artist Polly Dactic, longtime favourite Samantha Savage Smith, jazzy post-punks Subjectivity and new dark synth act Uncanny Valley.

The time has finally come! The full Sled Island 2018 schedule is here. Start planning the five best days of your entire freakin' life with all the what, when and where there is to know about Sled Island.


Today's announcement also includes new artist announcements including R&B sensation Kari Faux (pictured) and noise rock gods Cherubs, plus Sled Island Block Party performers Will Clarke and Dillon Nathaniel (who will also perform later on Saturday, June 23 in a special B2B set at the HiFi Club). Other new Block Party acts include B*les & The Suede, BB Mars, Magic & Johnson and Selci, all of whom join previously announced performers Symfan, Strangerfamiliar, josh pan and Harrison Brome.


Also added today are indie rockers nêhiyawak, blues rock powerhouse Bebe Buckskin, roots rattlers Cold Water and the stoner stomp of Gone Cosmic. Rounding things out are electronic entertainers Carissa Gem, HUNDRED% (Yung Nino + DJ C-Sik), OAKK and OpenEnd.
