I'm disappointed in the Oilers but not surprised. You would think that there would at least be some self respect in the organization

He got a full NMC so they can’t bury his hit in the minors.

He probably already has money down on the Oilers missing the playoffs

First of all, nice punch.

Secondly, was Chucky being punished playing on a line with Ryan and Hathaway?

I sincerely hope that Lucic is already looking forward to his next game against the Oil with Kane dressed!

I'm a little curious about the results from the investigation.

~ Sharks terminate contract for violation of Covid protocol a second time
~ "Lots" of interest around the league, especially Edmonton
~ Pump your brakes everyone, NHL needs to investigate breach of protocol
~ No word on the outcome, but Edmonton signs him. Easy to conclude the NHL didn't find anything. I would think that's easy to conclude.

So, circling back, how was San Jose able to terminate his contract?

I think this move makes the Oilers better in the near future. They have just added another top 6 threat to an already decent offense.

Who cares that the Oilers are more than a Kane away from making some noise in the playoffs. It's not like you win in the playoffs by having defense or a good goalie.

Furthermore, the Oilers were well on their way towards missing the playoffs this season, this will just cement them in bubble team territory, so hopefully they'll finish 9th.

That said, I don't see much of a risk for them. If Kane becomes a distraction then he will be out at the end of the season.

Bottom line: It's a pointless move for a pointless team. I like it because it seems like Holland is doing the bare minimum of work to not get fired.
