Someone brought it up in another thread, wondering about the ages of posters on CP.

Just turned 40. You're right that the 2004 run was what brought me onto the forums. I used to post in the official Flames forum for a couple years, then realized it was really dead cuz everyone posted here. So 2006 I joined, and been here ever since.

Yeah this is way better than going down to the Legion hall to have a few beers with the boys or playing bingo at the community centre chatting about cross stich and the grandkids. But in the not too distant future the zoomers will see us chatting on internet forums like going to Legion or Bingo halls

40. My current account is from 2006, but I had another long forgotten one from not to far after the forum started. Think my "handle" might have been Jazz or something like that.
Kids don't really use forums anymore. This was really an invention of the early internet. Now it's reddit, instagram, tik tok, etc.. Basically, internet users are now using decentralized social media in lieu of forums.
You'll also find the internet is a lot more fractured based on political views. For example, QAnon is where you'll people of a certain political persuasion talking about sports. However, it's rare to find a group of people of many political persuasions discussing one topic, such as hockey, these days.

That's true, things like these forums and BBCode seem to be a thing for a previous generation but I know it in my sleep!
