On one hand, Nakladal has been in game action for a while and has been looking great. On the other, Smid has been solid for us for the most part even though he's a possession black hole, has been practicing with the team, and knows the Flames system as well as having been in the NHL for years. So for tonight I would rather have Smid in and Nak watching from above, and give Nak the start the game after.

Like him or hate him, this is a pretty big moment for Smid having not played in almost a year and coming back from this injury. I wish him the best.

This team had better come out hungry and desperate.

Treliving said they are looking at this game as a season reset. Let's hope it's true.

If that happens I think I might cry. At what point do we pull the chute on the season and start moving older assets for picks while they have value?

Well, the team sure as hell won't do so anytime before the New Year, nor should they.

I expect to see a trade in the next little while, but nothing that signals "pulling the chute."

Not after 6 friggin games, that's for sure. Maybe we can revisit this talk around the trade deadline.

Hopefully the line shake ups jump start the team and this early season suck can get stopped.

Mike, Mike and Mike on the third line. Mike cubed.

I expect 3 goals from that line.

well, if we win, hurrah! I'll be there to see it!

if we lose in a squeaker, least it'll be a good game for once, and I'll be there to see it!

if we get pumped, the dome will clear out pre-3rd and I'll be able to drive home without traffic.

win-sort of win-silver lining win

Hopefully not the west coast, otherwise you're in the path of the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the western hemisphere.

Change the gd breakout pass plan, they are using the leave zone early stretch pass to the centre along the boards strategy. There are many other strategies, ours sucks and it's been figured out. Engelland, Wideman, Kulak, Dougie even Gio have had trouble with the breakout.

They should be using more lateral passes and cut plays as the pure up and down the ice defensive play doesn't work worth a crap when every team in the league knows that's what we're going to do. They played such a simple game before so the team could gel and now it's time to adapt and evolve. One strategy is not enough, we need multiple strategies for each scenario depending on what the opposition is doing. There are atleast 3 or 4 standard strategies in each zone and we as a team seem very limited in that regard.

I really like the looks of the forward lines but those defensive pairings look like a nightmare.
