That block in the back eliminated a very good return. It was one of those totally unnecessary ones where the blocker saw the numbers and still couldn't help himself. As a fan these penalties drive me nuts as the same thing happened in the first Stamps vs Eskimos meeting that took a TD off the board. I don't understand why players don't realize that they are better off letting the guy go as he may not even make a tackle. Pushing him from behind essentially nullifies any return and takes it back 10 yards.

Normally that would be a 5 yard penalty but since they are on the 3 it's half the distance to the goal bringing them to the 1.5 yard line half a yard short of the first down.
Personally I feel like that should trigger an automatic first down because if it was 4th and 2 anywhere else on the field and they take that penalty it's a first down.

I agree with you. Different if it is 4th and goal which it wasn’t.
The rule isn’t logical IMO.

HaHa, the NFL network just showed the very first MNF game, Jets at Browns (21-31). Quite the time capsule - the uprights were still on the goal line. The baseball infield covered one end of the field in dirt. Keith Jackson I think and Howard Cosell with the call. Joe Namath threw a late pick six with the game still on the line. Cosell mentioned Armstrong and Aldrin who must have been huge heroes at the time.

Packers absolutely gashed the Vikings D on that opening drive.
Not bad for a "boring as ###" offense we saw in Tennessee last year eh?

Is there anything less relevant than the opening drive of the game, literally the most scripted part of any offense? I believe the Titans actually lead the league in opening drive TDs last year so...

DJ Fluker lets his man get by him two plays in a row for a sack. Does he have money on the Steelers? That's next level incompetence.

"boring"...."scripted"
Both may be true...and as a fan i hope they continue doing both all year.
8/9 119 yds and 2 TD's. is miles better than almost anything that happened last year.
Give this group some time and i think we see a true contender depending on health of course and with a much better looking (so far anyhow) defense.

Yeah...Cook might be the most under rated guy in the league.
He is strong, smart and an absolute burner.

Cook isn't underrated so much as hurt. When healthy he's produced at a top 5 back level. Also that challenge from Carroll was why every coach needs a game management coordinator. Andy Reid takes a ton of flack in that regard but singling him out is unfair. So many coaches suck at it.

Speaking of not being underrated, Kirk Cousins really sucks.

Roethlisberger is clearly injured. Bad news for Pittsburgh if it's anything persistent.

I believe in the Jays.

The Texans run out of time on their 2 minute drill and have to kick a FG on second and goal. They leave 2 timeouts on the board after letting the clock run a few plays earlier. Brilliant stuff.
