for me as well, idol > patriotism especially when the time on that idol is running out. but I'll never post victory gifs about it.
once Fed puts down the Infinity Racquet and retires to the farm, I'll be 100% all in on the Canadian boys no matter the opponent.

I'll root against Roger outside a major for probably Felix only, but that's about it. Tennis is one of those sports where nationalism is basically meaningless, everyone just loves their favorite player regardless of country. It's why Isner gets hostile treatment when he plays Roger in America.

Sounds like no Calgary Challenger this year. It'll be moved to late February 2020.

Here's a link to the article explaining why the Calgary Challenger made the move.
This is a smart move as it allows the tournament to be more accessible to players who might have otherwise been in Asia, Europe etc and unable to play this event. Combine this with the expansion to a higher level event and we should be seeing the creme de la creme from the potential challenger player pool.

I'm the exact opposite as it's not like hockey where we have always been amongst the best and it's expected. I have been following tennis since the early 80's when Glenn Mitchibata was the nation's best men's player forever so it means a lot to me to finally get to cheer on Canadians during tournaments and grand slams.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Gasquet tanked the match, but he certainly didn't put forth much effort. Fed wins 6-2 6-3 in 52 minutes. I guess Gasquet has been dealing with some injuries so we can cut him some slack.

Sucks that we have to wait that much longer for it, but that's a good move.

Both players are serving quite well so the match isn't very thrilling. I think the wind has much to do with that though. Felix certainly doesn't look intimidated in the least when he and Nadal do get into a rally.

One bad game costs Felix the first set (forehands going awry).

Felix was playing pretty good in the first set but Nadal just turns it up a little and is up a set and a break. I like Felix's game, but I've noticed several forehands today are missing by a mile. I dont know if its nerves playing Nadal on clay but it's certainly been a factor.

Nadal has hit four winners thus far today - It's Felix unraveling due to that one bad game that's the difference.

I think the wind is pretty bad today as well which is causing Felix to over cook his shots. He's young and will learn from this no doubt, it's only a matter of time for Felix until he is in the top 10. I keep forgetting he's only 18 years old very impressive.

That was a big hold by Felix (played some quality points), still down a break though with Rafa serving at 3-2 in set 2.

Rafa playing much better now and doesn't need any help from the line judge.

Felix saves a handful of match points showing nice fighting spirit, but Rafa wins 6-3 6-3. The kid acquitted himself well today in tricky conditions.
