Two months after requesting a trade, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler will remain in Los Angeles for the final season of his contract, with $1.75 million in incentives added to his deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Ekeler, who turned 28 earlier this month, was scheduled to earn $6.25 million in the fourth and final season of a $24.5 million extension.
He remains bound for free agency after the season.

The inevitable has happened. Now it'll be interesting to see if he chases a big deal, or a ring.

Maybe I’ve been out of the loop as a Cards fan, but didn’t anyone else think we could’ve gotten something for him? He still has game. I would’ve loved getting a 2nd rounder and a cap dump or something for him. Nothing at all is painful.

No one wants that contract, everyone knew they were releasing him, so why give up anything?

I think he goes to the Eagles on a one-year deal. He made comments last week about wanting to play with Hurts.

Doubt he passes up his last chance at a big pay day
Bears got the cap space and the need, they'll overpay to get it done.

I'd think the Lions would be more attractive than the Bears. Almost equivalent cap space and a much better chance at making a run this year.

Could see that too. Jags too make sense. Just can't see a one year deal for a guy who is 31 and coming off a PED suspension. And if he's gonna ring chase on a one year to try and get a big deal next year the Chiefs make way more sense than Philly. In theory he's the #3 guy in Philly, he'd almost certainly be the #1 in KC.

Don't think there's any chance he goes to the Bills. They have virtually zero cap space and are projected to be me $13M over the cap for next season. They also don't really have any contracts they can restructure to free up cap space.
The Chiefs can easily get it done by restructuring Mahomes. Another team to watch out for could be the Ravens.

Hard to imagine after giving $16 million to OBJ.

They still have the cap space to add him. They may have given OBJ $16M, but that's hardly a receiver room you want to hang your hat on.

It's no secret that the NFC is an easier road than the AFC right now. In the NFC, you have two teams in the Eagles and Niners who appear to be a level above everyone else. Obviously a lot can change over the course of a season, but those are two betting favourites in the NFC.
In the AFC, you could reasonably make arguments for any of the Bengals, Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, Chargers, and maybe even the Jags.

Ravens and Chargers just drafted WRs and are 3 deep . I just don’t see the fit there

Fit really depends on what he wants. Ravens, Chargers, Eagles, Bills, Chiefs don't make as much sense for long term deals, but they make way more sense on a one year deal. One team I initially forgot, but who could easily overpay to help their new QB, is Carolina. Keeps him in the easy conference, they can win that division, close to home for him.

Hopkins has a small set of teams, and then will want somewhere close to his last salary (certainly not $1 or $2M for a guy older coming off a PED suspension). But, to placate Lamar, never know. Soent see the Chargers getting in a bidding war.
In other news Jimmy G's foot injury is bad enough that the Raiders redid his contract a while back and he doesn't get paid a signing bonus, instead all dependant on him suiting up for the season. So, the Raiders can cut him at anytime without financial or cap penalty.
