You gotta give Elon credit, it was clear to non-cultists that this would be an incredible disaster, and somehow it's been an even bigger disaster, by a lot, than any reasonable person would have expected.

I was expecting a slow motion train wreck over many months, instead we get trains crashing off bridges every day.

So they have two options. Maximize revenue and become a legacy company retiring the largest dividend they can or try to invent the next thing
$1 billion for Instagram, which has provided a lot of value.
$17 billion for Whatsapp, which is still a glorified chat app regardless of how much try to turn it into something else.

One was bought at the bottom of the market, one at the top.
Good example of how easy it is to get something wrong.

Whatsapp is giant in India and other places like Brazil. Now can they monetize those places - I don't know. But those are huge markets where it could become an actual WeChat like thing unlike Twitter which is dreaming if it thinks it can become anything like that.

Absolutely. One would think that would be the value.

But Facebook bought Whatsapp in 2014, and since then they have spent $36 billion on metaverse and haven't done much with Whatsapp.

Payments alone would be massive on Whatsapp, so no idea why they're not doing that.

It took them this long to work out who was going to tell the boss his idea was ####e, my guess is one of them said '#### it I'm out of here tomorrow anyway, I'll go tell the man child'

Banking regulations. The same reason turning Twitter into a banking app will be a nightmare.

I’m not even on Twitter but I eagerly await Elons daily hairbrained ideas. Best part is he announces new company policy via Twitter for all of us to see.

Can’t wait till he introduces pay per tweet.

The parody accounts is the best thing that's ever happened on Twitter.
Maybe Elon is playing 5D chess.

Some of those accounts are hilarious. I laughed at “Doug Ford” telling folks to keep sick kids away from his cottage. “Chiquita Banana” saying “We’ve just overthrown the government of Brazil” was great. I laughed harder than I should’ve at “SpaceX” tweeting “Who up horny for aliens who wanna get they dick sucked by a grey.”

It’s amazing entertainment. You can definitely see why advertisers and corporations aren’t seeing the comedy though. “Lockheed Martini” tweeted for Lockheed Martin that they weren’t selling arms to Saudi Arabia, Israel and the U.S. until further investigation of their human rights abuses. It’s not a great situation for companies to be in.

The lawsuits are going to start rolling in soon. Are there any C level execs left, or is Musk about to take the hit for a lot of this stuff? Is jail time a real possibility in his future?

Well one of the first things he did was fire twitter's legal team, so I'm sure they're in great shape to handle a lawsuit.

It's getting tough to tell what is real anymore. Ok, so this account is real, and they are just poking fun. I fear this is going to end really poorly.

The funniest one to me was the 2nd Chiquita Banana account that acted like it was correcting the Brazil tweet.
