I think the Broncos owners knew that Payton and RW may butt heads and egos fairly often, thus the push for Ryans and probably a strong OC to deal with RW.

Payton though is now the man in Denver, where Wilson was last offseason, and Wilson’s sell job cost the coach his job for trusting him and wasted a season for the franchise. We will see if Payton in charge works out medium and long term for those two to coexist.

IMO probably the right decision. The 49ers were the only team that afforded him a legit shot at winning one last Super Bowl and who knows if they were even interested. Time for him to relax and move on to the next stage of his life.

Everyone assumes coming back “cost him his family “ - but I wonder if it was the opposite

He knew the marriage was over and needed football as a distraction

Well if this it for Brady, have to acknowledge that it was a career in Football that I doubt anyone thought was possible before him. 23 years and 7 Superbowl wins with 10 appearances in the game.

Definitely was fortunate to have good coaching and defense on his side. But the longevity he enjoyed really is remarkable. I know after 5 years I was sick of seeing the Patriots in AFC Championship games, but eventually had to respect what the Patriots were doing to be there every single year. It will be weird not seeing him on the field next year if he really is done. Given his last post game presser, I think he is done this time.

He sounds sincere, and I'm sure he is, but I still don't buy it yet. Could get that itch in the summer, we'll see.

Kinda sad Brady retired since he was the last star player in sports older than me.

To me it's also more how the QB carousel works out or if injuries happen early next year.

I think if San Francisco or the Raiders were to come knocking with a big paycheque that it would be tough for him to say no.

I mean the real question now is does Greg Olsen get the boot from the Super Bowl booth for Brady? Lest we forget Brady has a $37.5 million/year TV gig with FOX to be their lead color guy. Would be a pretty dick move from Brady to not wait until after the Super Bowl to do this so Olsen can finish the year, especially since Olsen is actually good and Brady is a total unknown.

I think he will likely be part of the broadcast but I doubt they will punt Olsen who has been really well regarded all season.

I rather Brady do something like Peyton/Eli has. A separate broadcast. That way I don't have to listen to him.

I'm not a big Brady fan.

But I recall he used to have like a half time radio hit during the odd Monday Night Football game and I recall his analysis and insight being quite strong.

He probably sees the game like nobody before him - so even though he's a bit of a DB I'm intrigued what he can bring to a broadcast.

There's 5h of pregame to fill, I'm sure they'll trot Tom out to get some of their $37.5M per season out of him. I'm sure he will cameo at Daytona and baseball in the summer too.

Back to Chargers, I'm sure Moore sees a pretty simple path to being a HC if the Chargers stumble out of the gate next year, or at any point in the year. Plus he gets to work with a great QB and offense and out of the searing spotlight in Dallas.

I wouldn't be shocked if they come back with Stidham and draft a QB and not necessarily in the 1st round. I suppose Garoppolo may be an option.

Its going to be Rodgers they will make it work.

Tae is already talking about it.

Packers don't want him. It's close to home makes sense.

That makes sense, I genuinely forgot he existed. The Brady to LV talk was treated like fait accompli in the media, I can’t imagine Josh rolls with Stidham and survives another year where you pick top ten does he? Cash poor franchise or not I imagine results are needed and quickly
