Vlad is a guy who has hit:
48 HR 111 RBI
32 HR 97 RBI
26 HR 96 RBI
22 HR 72 RBI and a .316 BA with 50 games left
You sign that guy long term.
The Jays front office has done absolutely nothing to give him support in the lineup over the last two seasons. If they can get at least one bat to put in the cleanup spot, I expect he’ll dominate like he did in 2021. He went from having Teo, Semien, and Gurriel around him to Brandon Belt last year and Justin Turner this season. It’s a total joke. The team has wasted years of Guerrero’s prime with their dumbass “run prevention” mindset. You can’t compete in the AL East when you try to win every game 4-3.
When he struggles, it’s because he tries to do too much - he looks to hit 6 run homers. If he can have more support in the lineup, it will relieve some of the burden off of his shoulders.

I don't disagree. In fact I agree with most of it - defence at the expense of offense was an especially dumb philosophy. The lack of support in the lineup has been terrible, for sure.
He's a star player, no doubt. I just question going overboard for him as a generational talent. Big guys like him can drop off so quickly and to me that's a yellow flag here, combined with the plate discipline drop off his previous two seasons. He's looked to have turned it around recently but everything has to be put in perspective. Handing him the term and price is a huge risk is all I'm saying, and that's certainly not going to end well because...conditioning as he ages.

That's all fair and ultimately I'd like him re-signed but we should still be careful in that deal. It was more these types of comments I was talking about that always come up when a player is hot.

Well yeah. Even if he signed a 6 year deal (I think he’s looking for 8-10 years though), it would be $160-180m to be the largest deal in Blue Jays history. That is backing up the Brinks truck in my opinion.
They need to get him signed to build around.
I don’t believe Vlad’s a generational player but I do think he’s a foundational kind of guy. He’s a guy you can build around but he’s not good enough to carry the team on his back through an entire season. If you put some good guys around him, he can go off.

Blue Jays need to find a way to recover their glory. I think it starts with better management

Really nobody can carry a team on their back in the MLB.
Mike Trout had some of the greatest seasons in MLB history, and those teams didn't even make the playoffs

Jays have no young guys coming through the system they will need to pay anytime soon outside of Bo and Vlad . Until they rebuild the farm system and start developing talent what we pay vlad is irrelevant - Roger has shown they will spend in the top 8 in the league
If he’s overpaid by 5 million a year who cares - that’s a left handed middle reliever . At least he’s one exciting at bat every 9 hitters and someone to market around

Almost full stadium on Tuesday for a team done for the year. Why? $1 hot dogs.
Simpleton marketing but it work in Toronto.

The Orioles are quickly becoming an arrogant unlikeable bunch. Funny because they didn't win a playoff game last year and we're coming off one of the worst 6 year stretches in league history. But you do you ####birds.

Cabrera is the exact pitcher on the Jays I would expect to intentionally and happily plunk a guy, and then get heated over it. He’s warming up.

What? Why are you throwing that at fans like they're stupid? Simpleton marketing doesn't actually involve giving something, imo. $1 hot dogs is tangible, it's an event for a family that can't afford to pay $100 for tickets for their family plus another $100 for food.
You know who else would go for that "simpleton" "marketing"? Every ****ing sports market in North America, ya dummy. Only difference is the Flames/Stamps etc are too cheap/stupid to realize what you get out of a recurring night like this.
Puts it on the fans like it's a Toronto thing that they fell for, lol.

Barger becoming a regular would be huge for the Jays. Especially at 3rd.
I really liked that infield defensive alignment last night and it has an easy swap of Horwitz and Vladdy at 1 and DH. Clement at the 5th guy in the infield if/when Bichette is back.
Loperfido needs some work at the plate but you have to like the early look of him.

Bowden Francis might actually be the worst pitcher in the bigs. And yet the Jays keep trotting him out there. He makes Trent Thornton look like Cy Young.
That was a 75mph floater of a curve ball at the top of the zone. Like what the actual ####. Coach pitch throws tougher pitches than that. And it was with 2 strikes too. Unreal.
