Default Over ear headphones?

My Bose headphones are falling apart, and are starting not to hold a charge too. I got great use out of them but its time to put them out to pasture.

I'm having difficulty finding a replacement though because I don't want noise cancelling The noise cancelling I tried before was uncomfortable and felt like this really odd pressure in my ears, any suggestions for an over ear headphone? Budget would be sub 400 dollars

Yeah that's about the best. The 1000XM4's are also still out there too and may be better value depending on what one wants (https://www.rtings.com/headphones/to...threshold=0.10)

Can be had for less: https://openbox.ca/products/sony-ove...41175954718891

I found they were too small for me though.

The Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4's are on sale, I tried them once and liked them.

For cheaper rtings seems to like the Anker stuff.

I bought my girlfriend these ones:

She like them.. described as the XM4 lite. Pretty good honestly. I don't own any wireless though

Don't most noise canceling headphones have the ability to turn off noise canceling?

+1 for Sony.

They do, but the bose I have comes into varieties one with and one without the noise canceling and it's cheaper for the ones that don't have it. So it's nice to save money on a feature I don't want

Worth keeping an open mind. If the price difference isn't too huge, might be worth taking the feature and then if someone borrows it or you sell it etc. it'll have benefit. Occasionally on stuff like Black Friday deals, you might see a higher model discounted, but the lower model not discounted, especially headphones. The headphone market is kinda weird sometimes.

There's the occasional occasions where with discount, with noise canceling is cheaper than the older model without, so don't totally discount versions with when doing your research.

I've usually had no issues with Sony offerings. Actually I'm looking to see if there's a decent deal to be had in the coming months for a noise canceling one. If you liked Bose, I think many Sony offerings should be good for you as long as it's not a very bass heavy offering.

The Sennheiser one recommended should be decent. Sennheiser usually has more emphasis on the high range. I don't have direct experience with Sennheiser wireless headphones, but I have friends that do and they all liked them. I only have Sennheiser wired headphones.

Bose IIRC is more bass heavy in the low to mid range and more balanced in the higher range. That might help to give you an indication of what you're aiming for. Bose IIRC also has thicker sound isolation padding. Sony is usually on par with that with their low and mid level headphones, but Sennheiser is often known for having slightly less with higher models adding more. Some people prefer the sound Sennheiser has with less padding, others like customize the the lower end headphones to have more padding and claim it brings the sound up to the level of the higher end headphone. I do not know of the objectivity to this claim. I just know its a scenario that I've stumbled upon in the past.

If you are against the noise cancelling, I've always liked my Sennheiser 598/599 series around there. Super comfortable and breathable. Definitely no noise cancel though! Also routinely goes on sale so doesn't break the bank.

Have loved my airpods max though if you use any apple products and can get used to the ANC.

Edit: agh, just saw the wireless req, which the sennheiser is not. Sorry.

Does wearing glasses make wearing over ear headphones uncomfortable?

Possibly. It depends on their padding and clamping force. Some feel tighter on the head than others. It’s a good idea to try them out before you buy.

I've used over the ear headphones on my computer for forever and I've never run into a pair where wearing glasses made any difference even when I would game for half the day.

But yeah does seem possible. Can be hard to try before you buy as lots of places won't take returns of headphones.

So for 50 dollars including shipping and the outrageous HST bose directly is shipping me brand new ear pads. There is some wear and tear on the band on the top but thats cosmetic. for 50 bucks ill gladly save the money on new headphones, ive always loved my QC 35s

Repair is almost always the right call, the QC35s are still great.
